* Yes, I know that there actually was an Internet back then, with at least 11 users.
True, the NES/SNES years would coincide with Al Gore's congressional service (1985-1993) which we all know is when he invented the internet. I'm guessing those 11 users where on a prototype internet of some sort. Sorry folks, I couldn't find a Wiki article to link for proof.
what is more desperate is the people that think these highly specialized OSS apps that are not competitive in terms of features/support are going gain any traction in the market place. ha.
dammit dammit dammit!!! I thought they were gonna announce the killer app... youtube is OK but not killer... oh well, i guess it really is gonna fail... no killer app!!!
"The point is that a user should not have to search all over the place to find these things. They should be able to just sit down in front of the keyboard, and get their work done."
So... is that what you did the first time you sat down at a Windows machine or a Unix machine? Just ripped right in and set to task? Probably not... did you just fire up vi or emacs without any prior exposure/teaching/learning? Or maybe you fired up wordpad or notepad and instantaneously knew the difference and their application?
The bottom line, the truth if we may, is that you don't have to search all over the place in OSX... what you have to do is learn OSX and it's applications. The author sounds like a stubborn geek that did not take the time to learn. OSX is not Windows and is not Unix + window manager... it's OSX. ta da!!! it's unique and once you learn the basics it's very easy to use and productive. ha ha! This article should be deleted because it's written like shit and reads like shit because it's full of shit!!! ha ha.
true... my experience with installing X11 and then OO on a OSX.4 "tiger" G5 iMac was that it was brainless three step operation... that includes clicking on the OO icon to start the program.
"you can upgrade the RAM and hard drive on a MacBook, but that's about it for upgrades."
sounds like the same upgrades available to every single laptop I've ever owned or supported (100s of models at this point in my career)... except for, dare I say... the 1990s era PowerBook processor upgrades and hacks that were available at the time. go figure... is there any truly upgradeable laptops available from any vendor running any OS? (I am not sure... it's a serious question.)
The data set is incomplete and thus interpretation and analysis is flawed... with what confidence are the % stated... what allows you to report out to 100th of a %...

Sounds like the Linux community is in turmoil... wasn't it just a few months back Eric Raymond announced he is switching distros??? could at least one of the three serious "Linux as a dekstop" users chime in here? What is going on...?
"I think we're feeling pretty good about it," USAF Lt. Col. Fred Kennedy, project manager for Orbital Express, said in a telephone interview. "We're very confident that we're going to have a nice successful mission."
a nice successful mission... gggggggggreat!
it's gonna end up wikified... a pile of misinformed $hithe@ds all believing each other bullshit and patting each other on the back... whilst redeeming coins for crappy refurbished electronics on Amazon.
Put me on the list of people who will be laughing at this when we reminisce about the Web 2.0 bubble burst.
first post? what is this ... fuckedcompany.com 1999?

That Fox news article sucks ... I quote... "Milanowski ruled out Peterson as a possible stalker of the attractive local hairdresser,"

I suppose the 3 users of FoxPro are totally gonna be stoked on this...
