Sounds to me like what initial purchaser is getting is more like a mini-expansion pack as an incentive to buy the game brand new. The game works without the bonus content. Without getting that content you still get the core game - full dialog, full character selection, full levels, full quests. Yeah, that sure sounds 'crippled' to me. Maybe if you'd have read the article to begin with you'd have read the part about the DLC in question was developed in parallel with the core game, not striped out of it.
You put out "exclusive free DLC that only the first owner gets", you're intentionally crippling the game for anyone who buys used.
Could you please explain how this 'cripples' the game? 'Crippling' a piece of software means you cannot use it, not that you don't get a shiny toy with it. You can still play the base game, the DLC isn't required to play and enjoy the game -unless it's a patch to fix bugs, but that isn't really "DLC". If your enjoyment of the game is solely based on the special edition candy apple red dresser for Sims 7, the jet black BFG in Quake 30, or the golden widget in whatever - don't buy the game, but don't bitch about it being crippled.
As long as SOE is decommissioning the servers, I think it would be great if SWG Emu could offer to buy one or two off of'em. Would be a GREAT help to their reverse engineering of the game. And since SOE hasn't tried to shut SWG Emu down yet, they might even be willing to sell one of the boxes.

I had a great deal of fun being a Musician/Creature Handler as the tallest possible Wookiee. A friend of mine had two accounts, both of her characters were female Twi'leks and, at the time, dancers. I set my two crystal snakes to 'trick1' that circled them as they danced, while I played a tune. Was pretty sweet to look at. That little gimmick, along with talking to most people that entered the Cantina, earned me the Professional badge. That was about 3 weeks before I quit the game because of the NGE coming and the FS grind....
As a player, I wanted them to overhaul the combat system so that it actually promoted grouping with other players. That's the general consensus of everyone that played it.
Uh, no? If it was the 'general consensus of everyone that played it', people wouldn't have abandoned ship 1) as soon as they announced the NGE, 2) once they deployed the NGE, 3) continued to leave in droves after the NGE had been out a while. People weren't abandoning the game NEARLY as fast before the combat revamp as after. I, along with the group I played with thought SWG 'Classic' was just fine the way it was. You could be exceedingly successful as a rifleman/creature handler, , or one of a dozen different types of crafters. The revamp destroyed that in a big, big way.

The only assumption I made, for the sake of argument, was that this "trial" or "hearing" or whatever the hell this thing is supposed to be is done fairly. So please, how the fuck did I get that wrong? Once again, what is the fourth fucking time I've had to say this, I was NOT arguing the veracity of 'Global Warming'. At. Fucking. All. If you can't wrap your head around that Paltin, please just fuck off. I wondered how it would affect Al Gore. Nothing more. What part of that are you unable to get?
So I'm not an expert and that makes me 'ignorant'? What kind of fucking argument is that? I'm not an expert in chess, does that mean I'm ignorant in that too? The fact of the matter is I've read quiet a bit of the literature on the subject and have found it lacking in aspects, leading me to form the opinion that arguments on BOTH sides are flawed. Neither side tends to take into account astronomical events - the sun spot cycle, 'near' supernovae, passing astronomical objects, etc. Neither side seems to bother taking into account history that doesn't fit their 'world view' - that mini ice age we had ~500 years ago and its causes for one. But sure, let's ignore the fact that WAY more is going on than can neatly fit into the current theories of 'Global Warming'.
