  1. Interesting solution on Rage Against the File System Standard · · Score: 2, Interesting
The are a few guys on LFS's blfs-discuss mailing list that suggest that they modified the 'install' program to install each package as a user with the base package name.

On first inspection, it of course makes identifying and finding what put whom where ludicrously simple.

    find / -group KDE

On second reflection, it adds a finer layer to group/user mangement, and administrative delegations.

Here is what I submitted to /.

The images in all our minds from Tuesday are powerful. The images in our PVRs are 'real'. I'm scared that our memories of the devastation, of our Unity, and of our humanity will be replaced with 5 second news-bytes and cut-shots. The streams in your PVR's may well never be seen again if they are erased, because the media will sanatize and shorten the vids to fit between commercials forever-more.

I'm asking for discussion, here on /., about preserving these feeds, about it's copyright implications, and about the greater good of preserving these memories forever.

Thanks, I thought this through myself. What I /really/ was thinking was if the freq was too high to make a robust enough cellular network ( in this near line of site/7-mile catagory ) to sustain a data stream. But, thanks. I think its time for me to hit the sack, and stop trying to remember TOO much about some college communications course from too long ago... -cadaver

I have absolutly _NO_ idea what I'm talking about in the following post:

Is FM too high in the spectrum for packetized radio? And wouldn't it be cool if a slick piece of code and a dipole attenae type 'kit', all encompased in a nice Linux HOW-TO, would create a kind of open, user contributed, robust cellular packet radio 'umbrellae'. Especially in closed in area's, like a college campus, or a city.

Then again, what are you going to do, plug the dipole into the serial port?? I don't think the UART's are made for that...
