The death toll definately is lower, but that doesn't mean that there aren't the same amount (proportionately) of people getting hit.
People who used to lose limbs generally died in the process. Now, they can survive when they lose the limb, rather then bleeding to death, or whatever, due to their injuries.
I'm also using my two Motorola WR850GPs along with DD-WRT.
I have the second router set up halfway between the first router and my parents' room, with DD-WRT, set up as a signal repeater. Very handy.
Well, atleast it's happening in a Java environment, and since Java is so slow, they still have some time to ponder this idea before they set it into action.
By the time this is a viable way to get your gasoline, I'd really hope we'd be onto higher technologies then this. You know, like that Eleck Trick stuff, Or that Hydro Jen whatchamacallits.
Basically, the act of downloading material you already payed for is, arguably, legal (It's a pretty vague area, but most before me have assumed it's reasonable that you could make such an arguement). The problem comes with uploading it to other people, who may not have the legal right to own the material.
There are, however, alternative torrent clients which don't upload. However, I cannot promote this activity, because that's bad for the torrent ecosystem. At that point you're basically a parasite, just hogging bandwidth, and p2p systems can't work efficiently if people just hit & run like that.
One such client is Bit Theif, which has no capability of uploading.
I'd say that it's more like switching from QWERTY to DVORAK. *Supposedly* it should speed up your typing, but it requires you to completely relearn your keyboard. It's not worth the productivity loss. Hell, you don't even know that DVORAK is any faster then QWERTY. You already know where everything is, so why bother?
What about Troy Hurtubise' Trojan Suit? You know, This one?

I'm getting so used to TiVo these days... I couldn't take the commercial breaks =[
Maybe you could even try installing from ReactOS.
Hell, you could even try to install from a trial version of XP, in theory.
Dunno if those would work, but it would be interesting to find out.

(Sorry, had to be said)
