Quote: However, hacking is not a capital offense under any jurisdiction, so far as I am aware. When the prosecutor said he would fry, it was a figure of speech.
No, that is NOT a figure of speech. That is a threat against another person and is illegal. Also it is not the job of prosecutor to decide punishments (only recommend) that is up to a Judge/Jury.
He said, "He would fry". This denotes a statement of fact, EG a threat.
He said, "He should fry". This denotes opinion and is acceptable.
Sadly we will never see him punished for those statements.
I would tell them to sod off. No law has been broken. Granted I would not make a swap like that, nor do I see the point in doing so. But there are more important things to worry about in this broken world.
Very good points raised. I have considered this many times, however what happens in situations like this where the powers that be either subvert the vote or simply ignore it.
Heres how it can go:
1.) A vote is made, and it effects positive action (as per democracy should work)
2.) A vote is made, and the powers that be ignore the vote and say "You do not know what you voted on or did not understand."
3.) A vote is made, however all options being voted on are bad. (Read voting for the lesser of two or more evils.)
4.) A vote is made, however if it does not fall in line with what the "powers that be" say it must be then you broke the law. (USSR?)
Lately (at least from my point of view) it has been 3, now we are starting to see 2 come into play. How long till we see 4?
Also, there comes a time when formatting/reinstalling the government becomes an option.
I would publicly announce the contents of the order. I would not care about the consequences as things like this need to be made public knowledge or we risk further corruption.
This only confirms the reason why I and many others simply do not vote. Votes are simply subverted, and ignorance is usually cited by those in power.
The voters probably did not understand the wording of the ballot.
The voters probably did not understand what they are voting on.
The voters are too stupid to vote so just project the illusion that their votes matter.
I for one am sick and tired of the government and those in power who think they are above the voters. Government and those who work for the Government exist to serve the public, not the other way around.
I dont think its YouTube that has to change. Its the laws that need to be changed for allowing this type of behavior. If I can watch it on TV for free then you best believe that im gonna watch them for free on the internet.
This sort of thing and advertisements are the ways of the past. Its time to get with the future or be forgotten.
Honestly, I am very surprised by this. I would have guessed it to be closer to 90% unqualified. The state of education in the U.S. is a shameful thing. I dont have access to the current figures but isn't the U.S. ranking someone around 20th worldwide in education quality?
I guess its time to out source our education in addition to our jobs.
I guess also its another arguement for Home based schooling, but its a shame that the Military as well as many employers frown upon such practices.
Sorry to break it to the industry/advertisers but this is the wrong way to make a profit. The only time when in game adverts are allowed is on freeware/shareware. Software/Hardware that is paid for should never have adverts forced on people.
I really hope they enjoy finding themselves new jobs once the fallout of this stupidity becomes obvious to these oblivious people.
Btw, names of people who approved this crap would be appreciated.
One thing they are failing to take into consideration is alteration of life. By introducing more complex data into DNA sequences it opens the possibility of AI/Self Awareness within the bacterial strains. This would be a new form of life born from a primordial sea of information and microbial DNA.
While we would not see anything change initially as it takes several hundred even thousand generations, this is a distinct possibility and needs to be addressed.
Also while I am on that note: I for one welcome our new bacterial overlords.
Making claims that "dropping DRM will cost you" is the wrong thing to say to a growing population that is rejecting it. Here is the statement to the various companies EMI included, "Not dropping DRM will COST YOU!".
DRM is on par with terrorism.
DRM is extortion.
DRM takes away the rights of consumers.
DRM is not wanted by the majority of the population of consumers. Fail to remove it, and they will go else where. Its not a matter of IF but rather WHEN.

I knew the internet was a series of tubes, but this isnt quite what I had in mind.

Im more afraid of the people who cry "terrorist" then I am of the actual terrorists.

I would choose option 1 if I thought that it helped. I hope that option 2 wont be needed. Option 3 is just stupid.

I propose a new version where you go on a rampage thru DC. Killing Senators, children, lawyers, ect.
All those in favor say "Hell yea".
I think we need to just stick to the RFC that defines ports.

I would rather Soviet Russia benefits.
It just shows that its time once again for Americas FAVORITE game show!!!!!!
OUTSOURCE
Simply outsource the radio broadcasting service/equipment to someplace where location != United States.
Yes, but that does not roll off the tongue quite like. "Anata wa baka desu" x4

Ive made backups of the software in question. Knowledge will not be supressed.
B A Start
Adapt. Kinda like how the borg say it.

They just lost my money. Limiting customers is not a way to do business, especially with a programmer.
