So... what about Radios, Televisions, Cell phones, etc? I assume this paint makes your house into a sort of Faraday cage, so wouldn't those signals be blocked too?
What a pain in the ass. I'd rather just set up encryption on my wireless network, than paint my abode in Electromagnetic Fortress Blue.
Hey. Survival of the fittest, right? If nature intended these monkeys to live, they would have been endowed with bulldozer crippling super-strength! Or they would at least look cute. But they weren't, and they don't.
If supply and demand are balanced, that would mean that everyone who wants a PS3 at $600 gets one, and there aren't any left over. Judging by the number of PS3s gathering dust on store shelves, this is not the case.
I don't care how confident those people are, PR folks have got to put at least a LITTLE thought into what they are saying and how it will be interpreted. Quotes like "$600 is too cheap!" don't sound remotely like a statement of confidence on paper.
Consoles use power while idle? Even more power if they are connecting to the internet?? OH MY GOD stop the presses!
What the hell is the point of this?
This just in! Sky = blue.
Yeah really. At this rate we might as well lump DS and GBA sales with the Wii. Oh, why not VC sales too? I mean, the games play on virtual consoles!
Give me a break. Sony's sales are amazingly stale, if anything. Trying to put a spin on it isn't going to make it not true. Better get your asses in gear, Sony.
I agree completely, but buying any console at launch is going to leave you feeling the bite of scarce game variety. When a console has only been out a number of months you can count on one hand, there just hasn't been time for the breadth and depth of software we like to choose from to reach the market.
Right now is a ripe time to pick up a 360 however, I'd imagine that has something to do with the stronger-than-PS3 sales. For many, I'm betting the marginal utility of a PS3 is far smaller than the price. That makes the 360 look pretty tasty to those in the market for a more traditional graphics powerhouse gaming machine.
Things could be looking different give a year or so. As is always, only time will tell.
I have a feeling Nintendo will be stupid and put Metroid Prime 3 out against Halo 3. Smash Bros might be able to go up against Halo 3, but not Metroid Prime 3, no way. Prime 2 didn't do nearly as well as Prime 1, and I think that can be greatly attributed to the fact that it went out up against Halo 2. With any luck, Nintendo won't do this... the downside though is that if Metroid Prime 3 doesn't come out then, we probably won't see it until 2008.
Sword games wouldn't work well on Wii due to the fact that when you swing your Remote and your sword strikes and object, your hand and arm keep moving in real life while the in game sword has stopped. There is no feedback, no force stopping your hand and arm, and immediately disconnecting you from the game. Not to mention 1 to 1 movement would not lend to realistic sword handling. Swords are heavy, the Wii Remote is not. You could swing that sword around like a madman in ways that you could never do with a real sword, essentially spamming sword attacks that couldn't realistically be stopped by an opposing virtual sword.
So... does this mean I can sue the state over those roadside radar systems that snap pictures of your vehicle if you break the speed limit? I mean, isn't that harassment then too? It is surveillance, and it is meant to intimidate me into driving a certain way.
Not necessarily. As any introductory econ class can tell you, scarcity does drive demand for certain products. The Wii is likely one of them. The fact that it is hard to get makes it more desirable.
On the subject of Calibration, I believe Zelda actually achieves just this by asking the player to match the size of an object on screen to the size of the sensor bar (and as a side effect helps you to perfectly center the sensor bar). Seems to me that doing this ought to derive the size of the television for more accurate aiming.
As such, this seems like the kind of calibration that would have to be done in-game, depending on what the pointer will be used for. Perhaps, though, a future system update could add the capability to store information about screen dimensions and other calibration information so that you don't have to set it for each game.
Isn't it a little early in the console's life span to be making calls like that?
Twilight Princess is probably one of the best adventure games out there, if not THE best. Also, the Wii has the potential to be the perfect FPS machine, and as developers learn to develop for the Wii remote I am sure we will see some incredible FPS titles hit the Wii.
Your argument is flimsy at best!
Not really. It is more than possible to create a port with tacked-on Wii controls. Just look at Mortal Kombat. Hell, Zelda is a Gamecube port with tacked-on Wii controls. Simply substitute button presses with motions, and viola.
That is a poor comparison.
What is going on with piracy is more akin to someone buying something from a store, making a ton of copies, and giving them all away for free....hey, that's EXACTLY what is going on with piracy!
DRM is not a deterrent. The second free non-DRM'd copies of stuff hits the net, DRM hasn't deterred shit. DRM is more like a challenge for pirates to overcome, and really, they probably enjoy it.

Now HERE's the interesting thing. Those HD sets cost well more than the PS3s did. Essentially Sony was paying people to take PS3s.

Does JT think he is intimidating? He is like a thirteen year old with a brand new thesaurus. His response boils down to "No ur dum."

For now though, I wouldn't want to be Sony.
I can see it now... Gaming Skills Directly Linked to Cutting People Open!

Yeah, the only games Wii will ever have are those silly multiplayer games, like that sword fighting game called Zelda.
Not really. It is more than possible to create a port with tacked-on Wii controls. Just look at Mortal Kombat. Hell, Zelda is a Gamecube port with tacked-on Wii controls. Simply substitute button presses with motions, and viola.
That really doesn't explain why there's a PS2 port in the works, and not a Wii port.
Hey guys, the Console War is clearly over! The Wii is outselling the PS3 2:1
Well, you know what they say. Loss is the new profit! Nokia to buy Nintendo in 5 years, paid for in bizarro dollars.

I'm seeing Batman Begins and Pitch Black on The Pirates of Sealand or whatever they are calling themselves now.
Terrorists use maps to navigate! Could map-makers be doing more to prevent this?
I did. Nobody started to care until it was too late, sorry to say.
