What exactly is a standard headphone jack, including casing?
"Not that many people care about taking phone calls while listening to music."
It is kind of hard to not care about phone calls when the phone is ringing instead of playing music, don't you think? The iPhone is even really nice about it, fading the music out, ringing, and then fading the music back in. I don't mind using the supplied headset. It means I don't have to fumble around to answer the phone. Besides, who are you to speak for everyone? What evidence do you have to support your statement?
Why would you want a standard 3.5mm headphone jack? You wouldn't be able to take calls on the earphones. The jack still works for regular headphones already, so what's the problem.
It wasn't just offensive links, it was actual images. How would you like Slashdot if people could post the actual goatse image rather than just linking to it and you knew there was a strong chance you would see it?
If course he accepted "they" did it. It was clearly more than one person. Who exactly is "they"? You are implying "they" is Anonymous, but Anonymous is not the only group attacking Scientology.
Did we read the same post? The one I read never even mention Anonymous specifically. There is more than one group attacking Scientology. I hope I'm not drinking what you are drinking.
You say that there are links between cellphone use and brain tumors but it seems that for every study claiming that, there is a study claiming there is no link.
I am studying Engineering, as well, and all my English papers get As even though I hate writing. I try to say as much as possible in as few words as possible. My trick is to use Times New Roman to compose the paper until it got close to the required length and then switch to the paper to Arial. That would expand it at least 1/2 a page to meet the length requirement.
XP had more security problems since Vista's release than Vista did. That is a fact that was probably even posted here.
The SDK argument is perfectly valid. Microsoft indeed moved the goalposts and provided documentation on their new positions and it is up to the developers to figure out how to make it work. If a developer can't keep up with the changes, that developer should consider a new line of work.
Did you see the story on Apple pushing Safari with their update program? Some of those people ought to be politicians because they could really spin that story into something positive. I'd never seen the RDF so strong.
I think it is a huge step in the wrong direction. The ISPs would get us used to having to pay extra for media and then, one day soon after, they'll start specifying where you get that media. Vaguely, at first, but more and more specific as time goes on. Pretty soon, you'll subscribe to the internet just like your cell or cable TV service: starting at 500 websites/p2p files for only $39.99 and up. Anything that gets us one step closer to this is one step in the wrong direction.
I found it more interesting that the number of comments varies from page to page. Some of the comments disappear when you go to the next page and spring back to life on the page after.
"when the setup (eg 10 year old browser on dialup) is so outdated, it becomes functionally identical to broken."
Saying that because something is so old it is broken doesn't make any sense. If you use a 10 year old browser and dialup just to check the weather, as long as it can still check the weather, it isn't broken.
What I mean is that it would only serve to say it was indeed sunny, cloudy or dark, information that is much more cheaply learned by other means, like the time or pilot comments.
What are you proposing? Take those satellites offline from phone use and use them for airliners? What about the companies that paid for those satellites? Wouldn't they have to buy more satellites? Just because something exists that could meet your needs doesn't mean it is available for your use.
When something vibrates, the whole object becomes moving parts. That's what vibration is, material in an object moving in a regular fashion. Therefore, strong enough vibration in a device that relies on everything always being in the correct place will destroy it.
Here are two reasons not to have cameras: 1. They are expensive and often can't be easily installed without major modifications. 2. What good is a camera in the cockpit going to do? It won't be able to see outside(even if it could, you'd still see what the pilots saw, which obviously didn't help them) and it probably won't be able to read the guages. You end up with a video of the pilots doing what the other recorders already said they were doing.
The Air Force actually spent extra to have cloth seats installed(leather was standard) in many of the jets used to transport generals so it would look like they actually spent less.
You are obviously not the target market for the SDK if you can't imagine buying more than one device.
That was really funny! I definitely remember that!

My fiance's RAZR looks thick compared to my iPhone and I always thought the RAZR was thin.
That sounds like a physical problem, not a standards problem unless a standard 3.5mm jack is required to have a certain amount of space around it.

I don't understand your complaint. Why is DIVX being 10 years old bad?

I think you missed the big "5X FASTER!" ads on Apple's website when they switched to Intel.

It is extremely easy to avoid updates, just don't click "Download and Install".

If the date of manufacture is the day the aircraft rolls off the assembly line, I'd say this will affect many aircraft.
