Good straw man, I actually read the link and that still has nothing to do with Canonical vs RedHat. That would be AMD's fault for sending stupid APIC messages.
This has been popping up from this guy on multiple articles lately. Just mod it out of existence since it doesn't matter anyway. He doesn't really understand the moderation system, nor does his viewpoint matter. If he doesn't like the discussion system (as another poster already said) just don't visit.
Well, this approach was far more effective than engaging him in rational discourse. I'm generally an easygoing guy, but it was the over and over trolling of his that made me resort to this. One flamebait mod doesn't hurt my karma, nor do I particularly care about it, and he didn't get into a long hissy fit about it, so I'm satisfied. I think that a swift fuck off was honestly the best response. I'll probably do it again if I see it again.
He really does need to move on with his life and get over it.
Ok AC, you got me.. get a fucking user account and stop being a pussy. I'm sick of hearing this guy bitch every time the word Ubuntu is mentioned and a number of times it hasn't.
So crawl out from under your rock if you want to have a conversation.
Ubuntu gutsy has a 64 bit flash and java.. I was surprised it wasn't advertised in the new features (as they didn't have adobe flash for 64 bit in feisty). Come on in, the water's fine.
I don't particularly care what the documentation said. This was back pre-Dapper, before Ubuntu was big. This was when even the Ubuntu folks were saying, hey, this isn't quite there yet, but we're working on it, and here's our goals.
The issue I have is that after abusing everyone who tried to help him, he continually posts, not even on topic sometimes, about his situation. If you want to read the forum posts, google it.
I installed Ubuntu at Edgy, when it was fairly ready, and after I went through the process of installing Gentoo and figuring out what the hell I was doing. I learned, I didn't bitch when stuff didn't work. I made sure I had another pc to get to documetation, burn livecd's, and generally use while my box was under construction.
Waaaahhh, Waaahhh, Please read my original post and move on with your life. For those just joining us, more than 2 years ago now, was it? Well, at the very least more than 18 months ago, Dupeshit here tried to install Ubuntu and borked the Grub install. He them proceeded to abuse everyone who tried to help him, for free, on their own time as volunteers helping folks in the forum.
While he was installing an OS that was FREE, the came with NO WARRANTY, he neglected to make sure he had another bootable OS install media available (like say his original windows disk in case he wanted to go back to windows, or at least a recovery CD for his PC)
Now, fast forward more than 18 months and he is continually bitching about this on Slashdot to start flamewars.
What the heck are you guys talking about? I've been running the beta for a week now, and have had only a few minor issues as they get the new laptop power management stuff figured out.
It BETA folks, there are going to be regressions. When you run Gentoo unstable to get up with the same package versions as released Ubuntu repos, you're going to have regressions every day (why I switched) once Ubuntu's out of beta, I haven't had a single regression the entire time I've been running w/it (granted only 6 months, but that's a far better track record that Gentoo).
BETA with a big warning saying don't mess with it if you can't figure out dependencies. If you want "Just Works" wait 2 weeks for the release.
Gutsy is in beta, Edgy is one release back (6.10 = Edgy = Released October (the 10) 2006 (the 6)), Feisty is current (7.04 = Feisty = Released April (the 04) 2007 (the 7)), Gutsy is coming out this month (7.10 = Gutsy = Released October (the 10) 2007 (the 7)).
If you're running all Linux boxes, why use a backwards engineered Microsoft network protocol?
Move everything over to NFS and use rsync for backup.
Works like a charm, no matter what version of ubuntu or any other distro you're using. Break the paradigm in your network storage just like you broke the paradigm in your OS choice.

"That you feel you had "the last word" when your post remains up strikes me as another tree falling in the forest, but in the middle of the night."
As I said, you don't know how the mod system works: you can't post and mod in the same thread, so that can't happen. Guess you didn't get that, huh?
Excellent and highly condescending troll, troll. Back under the bridge.
Why? I use Ubuntu 6.06 for public facing home servers. Haven't had any troubles. Is this just FUD, or do you have a valid reason?

Oh, fuck off UD!
This is a copy/paste troll, don't feed the trolls.

That's my point exactly, and he just keeps going.

You're welcome, it only takes one tagger early in the article, but it never stays there for long if its just one :)

I don't help people on the Ubuntu forums. I just hate his trolling when I run across it. Think what you like, PEBKAC

How's that?

You can't document common sense folks.

FUCK OFF AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE!
That's right we're tired of it, move on with your life.

We had a really good workbook of all things when we did Fourier in my controls class. Going back to third grade on it did well for my comprehension.
That's because of bug #1 unfortunately :)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1
Could be, I don't have any NAS stuff running in my house, the only network storage I use, I mount through NFS so it looks local.

This has been brought to you by an Ubuntu user.
I didn't know that, since I had a dell OEM copy running on a homemade white box for a year before I moved over to Edgy... Never had an issue.
If you're running all Linux boxes, why use a backwards engineered Microsoft network protocol?

Just a suggestion.
Or at least I tried, their server is very nearly slashdotted, and didn't process the transaction.. I'll give it another try later.
