I just build a website with Joomla I faced a lot of problems.
First Joomla documentation as stated in the summary is at best obscure.
I needed to consult more than a website to understand that anything you put on the page is called a module. To understand the twisted logic that makes a menu itself a module and that in order to get a menu you have to install the module first was not easy in itself.
Then templates may not have all the same regions so a content visible in some of them becomes unaccesible in others...
But the worst part is instructing a customer manage the content on the site you just intalled... this topic really needs some more books (And Joomla is still more easy than Drupal)
You can also cancel your contract and keep the phone by paying a $175 termination fee. Since the new models are $200 cheaper than the old models, the new phone is still cheaper than the old one that cost $400. Are they unlocking the terminal after the cancellation? I heard something interesting once. I made it my personal view on the matter.
A free market economy intended as system of production of goods and added value services is a static system in the long run where all profits are null and incomes cover exactly costs.
Any imperfections in the system of free economy such as viscosity of prices, anticompetitive laws, lobbying, state protection and the likes can and do put the system out of balance causing less than optimal allocation of resources.
From another point of view innovations are making the othervise static economy progress constantly. In any given moment there are bystander and innovator companies, the innovators make extra profits the bystanders lose profits. So it is allready in the best interest of private investors to research for constant innovation.
The copyright/patent system is a double edge sword. On one side its aim it to grant the innovator protection for it's patent. On the other hand it actually diminishes the need for the industry to further research.
I will explain further. Lets assume a single product market, be it cereals. Assume there are 2 firms, one with a new generation product (frosted chereos) and the other with the old style one (normal chereos). If the new product is appealing to costumers and only the patent tenent can produce it then in the long run they will find a new equilibrium where the "new" chereos are sold at a premium to wealthier costumers and the old ones at a bargain price to all the others. In this situation if both are covering costs then there will be no added pressure on research! On the other hand if there was no copyright protection you can rest assured that the added competition in the long run will both bring prices down on the two lines of cereals and puch the innovator to research for a third one!
That's my point of view on the matter. Scientific research should be carried mostly in Universities and Commercial applications by whoever wants (yes, they can pay for the patents at the state)... if you want to protect anything just be sure that there is not a private interest somewhere otherwise there could be problems in the long run.

And since the latter is not possible then one of the prerequisite for the application of the law would be missing, e.g. a proper communication between two or more people. Note also that we have stingent laws for unsolicited mails.

We have a legislation here (italy) that state that tampering with electronic communications with the aim to impede or modify the contents of the messages is a felony. This is because the same legislation for standard mail has been applied to emails, phone conversations and IM.

I had a experience back in time with a purchased game that refused to play on my system because of a DVD-Rom driver. I quickly learnt that a pirated copy will often work better than a original (and that it comes cheaper). Now It sounds like this experience is going to be experienced by thousands of honest costumers of EA.
How is this any different than, say, Ford discontinuing its Aerostar minivan line? It is different in that you can keep driving the Aerostar and keep finding spare parts from third party vendors or using recycled ones.
Selling imaginary property is much different than selling goods.
I am utterly pleased with MS decision to shut down the DRM servers.
Know why? There are people that don't realise how bad are DRM downloads until they get royally fucked in the ass and this is what's going to happen on sept 1 2008.
