blinking lights do NOT increase your visibility, but reduce it.
This must be why police cars and auto hazard lights and road sawhorse lights are all steady, right?
It may be harder to judge the speed of an oncoming strobe, but I'd say there's a pretty good case it grabs attention.
I haven't even been hit once with my blinky headlight going!;-)
Parent is marked -1, Troll. In what way is this trolling or not apropos to the subject of the article? If you disagree don't mod him down, post a counter to his argument. Disagree with people via words. Don't just try to hide / censor posts you don't like.
The guy automated a task, he got paid for his work to automate that task.
So did they hire him to get the work done or to automate the task of getting the work done? It sounds like they wanted him to do the work. He looked at the job, looked at the previously available tools to do the job, and made better ones. The agreement is still in place for them to give him money while he's giving them the end product they asked for.
As the owner of a Gear Fit 2 (Samsung smartwatch) I'd like to chip in that anything more than basic watch functionality runs the gamut from "iffy" to "nope". Maybe the battery lasts longer but I was still recharging it daily. I've stopped wearing my Samsung in favor of a MS Band 2 (which works flawlessly) and a Casio digital watch because I'm sick of trying to read an OLED display in sunlight. My.02, YMMV and so on...
Apple Watch? Meh. Now a watch can be invaluable: Check the time while riding bike / motorcycle. How long has the chicken been on the grill while you're making mashed potatoes? Is this computer / server really taking that long to reboot or is this a watched pot sort of thing? Vibrating watch alarms are great in a silent environment, and much less obtrusive to shut off than a phone alarm. and finally, what if you just want to know the time without carrying your damm phone around with you?
Chicago has gun control because of the high ratres of gun violence.
So is this supposed to be an argument in favor of gun control because it's clearly working so well? Are you virtue signaling that gun violence is a bad thing? I'm confused...
Show me where you're granted the right to make weapons without restriction...
This is really cringeworthy stuff! You are not granted rights to do things. The gov't explicitly removes your right to do certain things from the group of ALL THINGS which you otherwise can do. Thus, stealing other people's property and killing them are not allowed while reading in your house is fine. I find this skewed worldview you seem to be presenting troubling. Your question should be phrased the other way around. What law specifically prohibits you from making a "weapon"? Please define "weapon" btw, does it include a knife or sharpened stick?
Are you implying that an upset 18 year old with a friggin' McLaren may have failed to think through the repercussions of his actions? I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!
I went for it for the buttons. It has page turn buttons on either side to go forward / back without having to tap the screen. It's not a bad idea, but they positioned to buttons so they're perfect when it's sitting on a desk in a case. If you're (for instance) holding it in your hand it's still easier to tap on the screen to turn the page.
I think it originally had a more even light than the Paperwhite but I'd be surprised if that hasn't been worked out.
If you turn off the ads, you won't see them. My books are very personal to me and I've found even just one ad offensive. It would be like interrupting your favorite song with a beer jingle or something. Anyway, you can get rid of ALL the ads if you want to.
Well, it started as cute / amusing, then degenerated into the usual tap-dance. White people are bad, blacks are victims because slavery. Yawn. Just another liberal racist* doing his thing, nothing to see here.
*Yes, the act of characterizing all people because of their skin color is bigoted and racist. Even if you're on the left!
There is strong evidence that the sale of hot cocoa in NY is inversely correlated to the rate of muggings during that same period of time.* Statements like this are so simplistic they probably should be disregarded outright. Life is just not that simple.
* When it gets cold more people drink cocoa and the muggers stay inside.
Excellent question! It turns out we got to where we are today (with racial / gender imbalances) by doing just that. Unfortunately, letting people make their own decisions sometimes doesn't create a homogeneous end result.
I was wondering if a male had been the one to correct a commenter, would the same thing have happened.
If a male is a jerk while correcting a male commenter, that's the Internet. It means nothing. Now for fun imagine a woman corrected the male commenter and he told her to stop bitching at him until she was off her period. Would the guy deserve flack? Hell yes! Would he get it? OMG yes! Why should she not get pushback for talking about his "hurt manfeels"? Is it ok now to make derogatory assumptions about people based on their gender? Or is this only OK if a woman does it?
It feels like a double standard, as rude men get a pass all the time...
Rude PEOPLE on the internet are a very common occurrence. I'm surprised you haven't noticed. OTOH, as soon as you start shitting on people based on their gender they start getting upset.
We're conditioned to assume that if men are aggressive that this is normal and expected, whereas we're supposed to assume that women are polite and agreeable.
Men ARE more aggressive (on the whole). They are also physically better equipped to be that way. Traditionally, they do the fighting and the heavy building. Women ARE more polite and agreeable. There are exceptions of course but that's just how we are.
Assuming your unsupported premise (and I have no idea if it's true) that "white people are more likely to molest children" it would be entirely reasonable to expect more white child molesters would be arrested. In the same way, people who have a propensity for shooting other people are much more likely to be arrested for shooting other people. I fail to see where you meant to go with this. Did you have a point to make or are you just trying to troll?
Let's keep a sense of perspective. You want to keep your blood sugars to a "healthy" level. As I understand it, that's between 70 and 100mg/dL fasting and generally below 140 all the time (yeah you spike after eating). If you're not dead, you have a blood sugar level of some sort. My point is, you should NOT be trying to eliminate sugars or things that will turn into sugars from your diet. You need them. Just figure out what you can eat such that your blood sugar stays at a level your nerves aren't dying off.
Let's put it this way... Shooting and killing innocent people is a bad thing. It's what they are supposed to be stopping, not doing themselves. Any time the good guys do what they're supposed to keep the bad guys from doing, something has gone horribly wrong.
It's like that for everyone. You don't get to be special from behind your keyboard. Flip this on its head. Do you think (just as an example) a white male coder asking a question is coddled and treated with respect? Maybe the culture of elitism / hostility should change, but let's not try to look at this as some SJW cause...
Playing devil's advocate here, but I'd like to point out that the penalty for apostasy in Islam (according to Islam) is death. I could easily see why 98% of a population would claim belief if it kept their heads firmly attached.
I would proudly ride a bicycle emblazoned with that name on the top bar.

The ability to force you to cooperate in a fishing expedition targeting you won't be misused. Because I have a cell phone!

But... but... I LIKE to watch movies about gladiators!

Do you people just intuitively try to restrict freedom?
Because it's so much easier than usefully addressing the cause of the problem?
Am I the only one who while reading that heard John Cleese on a castle wall saying "...and your father smelt of elderberries!" ?

It's an excellent piece of hardware. As for "walled garden"... google Calibre. You're welcome.
