Nobody can see who other people have put in their circles and that is the whole point of it
excuse my language by are you F**** serious? You share everyone you have in circles on the Google Profile by default! You have to click "edit profile" then click on the lower left box, then the option to hide/show your circles will appear. Thanks to Google I just found out about my ex-girlfriend getting back with some guy that abused her. This all happened while I am "blocked" by both of them in other Google services. Luckily I have the sense to leave this information alone, but I know there are other people out there that are more than just curious.
China is poised to become the worlds largest non-native English speaking population in the world. They are learning English at a much faster rate than any Americans can learn Chinese.
This is true, however, they are learning English faster than they can learn Chinese. This is because almost anybody can learn English faster than Chinese. This is the reason why children begin communicating at an earlier age in the west than their equivalent Chinese counterparts.
I thought this was in reference to Google's Demo for Circles, that matched meta-words from your chat history with local menus via GPS and google business listings. Since the circles demo is all about a group of people searching for a restaurant to eat at! I figured automatic ordering of food for take out was their facebook-killing app...
A quick glance at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Silverlight#Silverlight_5 shows that the next version of Silverlight is planned for the second half of 2011. (Beta available now.) New features include a BRAND NEW 3D API. Just because some site uses HTML5 has nothing to do with Microsoft's long term development plans for Silverlight, which should fall into a niche quite different from either Flash or HTML5.
Almost a decade ago I watched as a blaster variant compromised a XP machine BEFORE THE INSTALL HAD COMPLETED. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom thought it would be cool to enable remote procedure call before you even get a desktop up. (I guess unattended setup scripts weren't enough?) Had to re-install disconnected, patch it, then setup networking. I had no machine at the time to make a patched install disc. None of that would have been a problem if I could have installed my firewall software before windows starting RPC.
One would need root permissions, a UI patch, and a script to remove packages installed as part of the operating system. this behavior is by design. i know of no Google Experience certified devices that include this functionality by default. based on my own research (i own one) even the nexus one comes with the Amazon MP3 store pre-installed and is unremovable without access to the recovery and update system "partition". (Like Amon_Ra, ClockworkMod, or a google-signed update.zip)
Now that we have covered what is a Google version of Android with full access to android market, we can describe "pure/unadulterated" android, which is the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) distribution, which also doesn't with defaults have the software removal features you are describing.
but they are NOT some rapist, some pedophile. See how programmed you are. It's people just like you, when the cops want to meet their quota, when they don't like you, when they just had a bay day.
There are TENS of THOUSANDS of people better then you in jail, dude, believe it. But keep it up thinking everyone in jail deserves it. When it's your turn, you can tell it to yourself at night when your starving.
All this shows is that the United States is still seen as the world's last military superpower. What better way to motivate than to be presented with what is commonly believed to be the world's best fighters? It is *possible* that somebody had motives that many here keep assuming, but chinese people have a different thought process than people in the west. To them, this game probably isn't about indoctrinating hatred or dehumanizing the "enemy"!!! We are the ones who see these things lurking in the shadows at all times. In the end, it amazes me, that here on slashdot, posters can be so worked up whenever there is an article about how "Video Games Caused Columbine, Censorship Now!", defending the beliefe that games alone don't make people into killers. This is just China's attempt at America's Army, and they probably programmed textures of us because they were thinking about us as they copied our ideas. They imitate us and we ridicule them. Yes, it has been pointed out already that America's Army depicts the enemy as a nationless terrorists, but that still doesn't allow us slashdotters be hypocrites and claim video games are able to manipulate. (Unless you are only implying that it was the PLA's intent to manipulate with the game, regardless of rationality.)
Such good stuff. I don't think I could ever go back to stock android. CM 7 on HTC Passion (Google Nexus One)/w T-mobile's GAN calling ported from MyTouch 4G
If I'm having lunch with a medical doctor and want to know if there's a new treatment for arthritis, I don't whip out my phone and look it up on wikipedia, I simply ask the doctor. Same thing. If I'm in a "room" full of computer geeks and have a question about a CPU, I simply ask. Which has the added advantage of stimulating discussion.
That is EXACTLY! what I do! I bust out the smartphone with 3G (or use WiFi if I'm at the emergency room) and do background research before I engage an expert into a discussion. This frees up time for more advanced subjects because the basics are now under my belt. It also helps me to ask the "right" questions, and makes it easier to hold the attention of the expert I'm trying to discuss the topic with.
The old ways of being dependent on live teaching for assimilation of information is far outdated by todays standards. I quit high school after two years once I realized wikipedia had more accurate information than my teachers did, used the gift of literacy and the advents of the information age to study for myself, scored no less than 95% on every GED category, and went straight on to college. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions, and my opinion of your opinions is that they are not only relegated to the past, but HARMFUL when forced on our youth, as they are holding back the very progression of the human race itself.
Do you have Marfans? I'm also 24 and have some expressions of the disorder. I was lucky enough not to have any detachments (yet) but my lenses are a bit off requiring me to use glasses as well. I'm 6'4" and my damn bones won't stay in their sockets/joints. My spine is only slightly crooked (lucky again), but my bones are pretty brittle/fragile. It seems I'm always dislocating, breaking, or fracturing something. I'm still waiting to find out if I'm at risk for valve dissection. Do you share any of these?
Now somebody is talking!:-) Very interesting idea for some software. Wine-Core on Windows, integrated with a x86 emulator, and using native APIs whenever possible! This will give a HUGE performance boost compared to a full-fledged machine emulator + guest OS.
NO NO NO! At least you are a bit closer to the truth! THERE IS NO BINARY TRANSLATION IN WINE! THAT WOULD BE AN EMULATOR! You should have stopped typing when you said it was a "implementation of the Win32 API" and you would have been correct.
I'm not denying it, rather, too lazy to do research. So I'll post a response instead. Show me the precedent that supports Honda CAN'T require you to only drive on their designated roads. Licensing agreements are contracts, right? So if Honda holds real property for sale, with a requirement on said sale that you agree to the contracts terms, regardless of payment, where the lines on the road are painted, or whether your up-to-date on your insurance and registration, if you don't agree, then no sale has been made, and the car your sitting it is technically Honda's property. Is there a precedent I don't know about? possibly. Does this concept apply to intellectual property? who knows.
What the real question will boil down to someday is, "What rights should a person retain on an idea, after making that idea public?" I have a feeling this won't be anything getting resolved anytime soon.
One last thing. If you agree to a EULA you aren't allowed to read first, then someone else should be handling those kinds of decisions for you, as it would be in said persons best interest.
Everyone runs bootleg copies of Windows XP in china. Even the 1334 hax0rz. At least that is what I have observed personally anyway. So unless they suddenly got as excited over linux as they are with making their own processors, then the M$ supplied rootkits our government has should work just fine. LOL It isn't even command line probably, likely an Aero style GUI!!!
The thing is, theoretically, if we were both attacking each other, we are the kind of nation to start telling the whole world about it, while if the Chinese were compromised they would never speak a word about it. Especially to their own people. It is a well known difference in our cultures.
You know how much harder it is to find MULTIPLE points of view in one book, or one library, compared to finding multiple sources on the internet. Including scans of your precious books. If anyone ever told me something was true because it was in a book I'd laugh my ass off at them just as hard as if someone said the same about the internet. It's not the research medium thats making people stop at the first source. There is a lot of money to be made by printing lies. You should take a look at some of the sick, oppressive government approved, encyclopedias that exist around the world.
Nobody can see who other people have put in their circles and that is the whole point of it

As far as I know, Stickler's is a similar connective tissue disorder, but affecting collagen instead of fibrillin.

see parent post: http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=2168340&cid=36176792 redundancy lol
Windows CE only shares the name with desktop Windows. It's basically a different OS.
Windows 8 (as I unterstand) will be the same OS compiled for a different platform.
But yes, Microsoft has experience with mulitplattform OS': Windows NT ran on Alpha and other architectures.
Thank you for posting that so I didn't have to. :-P While your comment was hidden, the parent's post had me grinding my teeth.
WINE = Wine Is Not an Emulator http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ I used to expect so much more from slashdotters.
indeed.
