  1. Re:not suprising on iPhone Keyboard Leads to Typso · · Score: 1

I disagree. I was required to carry around a BlackBerry for over a year at a previous job. While the hardware keyboard was pretty accurate and fairly fast, I think the software keyboard on my iPhone is just as accurate (thanks to the automatic error correction) but I find that I can actually type much faster on it. The main reason for this is that I don't have to "press" the keys as much as I have to just touch them. I actually find that most of the time I don't even feel as though I am touching the screen, which makes my fingers move much faster. No tactile feedback, but the visual cue of the enlarging characters as I type seems to work very well.

The downside is I would be counted as both a no pay and as a pay. Which points out another glaring problem with these statistics. How many people downloaded the album just to try it out then later decided it was worth a few bucks and went back to pay for it?

Don't forget about those people who had Vista shoved down their throats when they bought a new PC. A good majority of people did not have an XP option near the time of the initial Vista launch, especially if they bought a Dell.

Agreed. I had a bone marrow transplant 5 years ago to treat ALL Leukemia. My doctor had told me then that I would have different DNA in my blood than in other cells such as skin and hair. IIRC, he also mentioned this would be short lived, but I can't quite remember why. However, since I didn't have any prior homicidal tendencies, this didn't really affect me much.

  6. Re:Mid-air mouse... on Five Ideas That Will Reinvent Computing · · Score: 1

Yes, a company called Gyration has been making them for some time now. It uses a gyroscope located inside the mouse to track movement and RF to transmit to a PC. I have personally had one for over 3 years and it works great. My arm doesn't usually get tired because I can still rest it on my couch and use small movements of my rist, but then again I don't use it for work 8 hours a day. In a pinch I have even used it for FPS gaming, not ideal, but functional.

It's hard for me to understand why anyone would actually shell out the ridiculously high sticker price for this thing That's kind of the point. This is not a TV that is really meant to be sold. I saw one of the first 100" plasma over 2 years ago at infoComm. I believe it was a Samsung. Last year, someone else had a 102", and now Panasonic has a 103". These TVs are mearly marketing tools to show off the size of the respective manufacturers... well, TV.

A 100" plasma will most likely never be as cost effective as a front or rear projection system at the same size.

Like most slashdotters, I was never athletically gifted in school. However, I was always involved in sports regardless of how many times I got my ass kicked. The difference was that my parents, if I was truly interested in something, would not allow me to quit. They always made me strive to be the best that I possibly could, even if that wasn't that great.

The idea that we should allow our kids to avoid athletics because they are focused on competition and winning is absurd. Guess what, that's the real world. I owe a lot about myself to the fact that I was picked last in dodgeball, repeatedly bashed in the head and continued to get back up to try harder.

I do agree that gym teachers suck, that's why parents should encourage their kids to catch that dogeball and give the biggest kid on the floor a Spalding tatoo.
