Holy shit. Did you just take something that you thought to be true based on your interpretation of a holy text, apply critical thinking to it when presented with possibly contradictory evidence and welcome said evidence to form an intelligent conversation/debate in order to form a possibly revised theory?
I hope this doesn't sound like a troll, I just really do wish there were more people like you in the world.
Why not use a pulley? You could simply add something to the back of the lamp that you exert the weight of your body on to lift the weights. (Assuming you way more than 50 pounds and the lamp could somehow be stabilized)
"Concept illustrations of Gravia" "Moulton estimates" "He predicted" As far as I can tell this is nothing more than vaporware. There doesn't seem to be any indication in the article that this thing has actually been built. While is does seem like a cool concept the overall implementation does not seem that complicated; so why has he not actually built the thing?
This has nothing to do with bits of memory, but rather cells of memory. Each cell of memory has four states and the four states are mutually exclusive. It can only be in one state at a time. Therefore rather than holding only a 0 or 1 as it previously did, it can now hold 0,1,2 or 3. Hence, double the capacity of before.
G.Lippman got the nobel prize in the naughties for having developed such a process Did someone actually throw a Nobel Prize at his genitalia? That sounds very unpleasant.
I was guessing this was more of a northeastern type thing Actually, I first ran into this while living in Orlando, FL in 2003. Oddly enough, it was more at the touristy spots than the local hangouts, but they were only to scan Florida IDs. I had several friends from other states with barcode IDs who did not get their IDs scanned.
It's an interesting exercise of the imagination, but without some concrete anomaly that can only be explained by the fact that what we see isn't reality, I'm not going to speculate. Nah, go ahead, speculate. I bet our programmers are really getting a kick out of this thread.
Windows Media Center, like every other video player on you computer, can only play back the files you have codecs installed for. Just go download a DivX codec. (divx.com)
I agree that they do not 'Hate our Freedoms' as the administration and the media has so eloquently put it, however it's not as simple as leaving them alone. Yes, they do want us to stop meddling in the affairs of the Middle East with regards to how their region is run and the religion it is governed by, but they still want us to buy their oil and support their economy.
The fact is the U.S. will never exit that region as long as a large part of our economy is based on the happenings of theirs. And we will continue to meddle while this is the case, even to the extent that we become the terrorists.
...got to wonder what kind of misinformed loonies are making all these decisions Well I think it's pretty clear what kind of loonies we have currently running the country, and it's by no means limited to the president or the republican party. All of congress is pandering to fear-monger tactics in order to attain or keep their spot.
The biggest irony of all is that we have gone down the path that 'The Terrorists', whomever falls under that category, would have wanted. Killing a few thousand people, albeit very tragic, is nothing compared to turning a government against it's own citizens and keeping an entire populous in constant fear. Which they could never have accomplished without the aid of said government.
I think you might want to consider that you live in a city with little to no grass. Dogs don't want to pee on the sidewalk anymore than their owners want them to.
Nobody likes hoping that their bladder will empty before the stream reaches their foot.
I have just scanned all of the computers on my corporate network. I have concluded that 0% of the computers in my office (out of 300) have LimeWire installed. I am therefore claiming that 0% of the WORLD'S computers have LimeWire installed based on my sample group./sarcasm
I believe this is a valid comparison as the data in question was collected when users submitted to voluntary PC scans by visiting a specific website that 99% of the worlds computer users have never heard of.
From the report linked to in the article, the data was collected when users went to a site (pcpitstop.com) and allowed their computers to be scanned so that the software could find "performance improvements" and make suggestions for their machine. Although I'm sure it was buried in the fine print of the TOS, I wonder how many people realized they were allowing this type of information to be sold to data mining and/or marketing companies.
When Johnny Lee posted his last hack, it seemed like a cool idea to track your fingers in the air, but not all that practical, as was discussed at length. This hack however could actually have very practical applications for discussion and presentation, without the $5000 price tag of many interactive white board products. I'd like to see if anyone ever attempts to implement this in a small business environment, such as a design studio.
Please don't take this as a fanboi comment, as I am definately not, but my iPhone does this, along with all those other things it does. Definitely not very "affordable", but you can get the same features with the iPod touch, minus the phone, for about $300. Granted, the eBook reader is made available through a hack, but it works very well for reading eBooks, and you know all about the webpages and such.
Our findings demonstrate for the first time that watching media depictions of violence does influence processing in parts of the brain that control behaviors like aggression.
Okay, but how long does it last? Given the fact that I am not very likely to take off my shoe and bludgeon the person in front of me in the theater to death, how does this effect my likelyhood to do the same thing after the movie when I see someone I am not fond of?

Thank you, I didn't know and was somewhat confused. I still however, do not care.

Hey, I'm compiling!

Wow, not even bothering with cleverly disguised URLs anymore. The balls are growing bigger.
Correct. See additional comment below.

Who else is hoping someone got a picture of these two being arrested so that they can add it to the ThinkGeek product page as an action shot?
I guess I must have missed it when Wired turned into a political blog rather than a technology news website.

Look I was drunk, alright?! And the dog came on to me first! Yeah, but who brought the peanut butter to the party?
Don't forget about the Inertial Dampeners
