I think that the best government is a minority government.
A miority government spends most of their time squabbling and crying about the other 2 factions. Most of the individual parties pet projects never make it anywhere. If anything actually important comes, they have to work together to get the law passed. If you don't work with the opposition, there is another party who will. If nothing important is happening, then they just propose bill after bill after bill, and none of them ever make it any where.
A minority government is the best way to get the least government for your tax dollars.
You forget the audience. Most of the people here have day jobs where the job is to keep stuff working. The old logo works fine, so what's the problem?
If it aint' broke, don't fix it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to make another post complaining on how SlashTV is a waste of electrons and how the old/. format was so much better than the current AJAX garbage.. I'd mention SlashBI, but I think that one speaks for itself.
I don't know, but I thought that as well. You would have less gravity, but also a lot less air. That would mean less lift, but also less (propeller) drag, so you could spin the propellers faster with less energy. My guess is that you would have more motor losses becuase of the increased speed, but otherwise similar energy requirements....
I think it would be cool to send a rover with several model helicopers on board. The helicopters could be sent out to do recon missions and check out interesting things quickly and see if they are actually interesting enough to move the whole rover over there. They could descend into caves to scope things out, and maybe have a range of a KM or more. Easier said then done, I know. I just think it would be cool.
I know Jesus doesn't exist. When I die, that's it; I'm dead. There's a cool thing that happens when you know this life is the end: You suddenly start caring about yourself and just live your life. It only costs 200$/mo to keep my turbocharged child from running out of premium fuel. So the obvious idea is to work for enough money to live on frugally, then buy a fast car. If enough people actually did do self sacrificial giving of buying a fast car, there would be no such a thing a suffering auto industry. But as long as other people need roadside help we should be helping them.
I don't get your analagy. How would changing the rims have any affect in making your car more secure? Is the analogy not about security and just a comment in general? Something like, "A 89 Carolly is already shitty beyond hope, so why bother putting rims on it?".
Ironically, the funniest part of your comment is right after the "Jokes Aside" comment where you suggest that there might be a *nix version that dosen't require adware. Get out of the basement!, Also, someone is stealing the rims off your Carolla.
I would have to agree with this story. All over the place, I see piece of shit cars driving around with their owners/drivers listening to their iPods using the earphones. These reckless drivers are oblivious to other drivers on the road, which is fine by them because they don't care if their peice of shit gets in an accident.
This scourge of iDrivers is a menace to society, and must be dealt with.
That's not entirely true... Your sat phone connects to Iridium satellites, whick, IIRC site at about 450 km about earth. These satellites have low data capacity, and are generally not suitable for data.
For data, you need to go all the way out to Geo Sync, something like 65,000 km out there, so a bit further.
We use self-aligning dishes to lock on to the sat, and they are a major pain in the ass. Any time there is a power inturruption, there is a good chance they lose their link. Then I have to arrange for some cook, or janitor to go out there and try and fix the thing. It's frustrating.
Needless to say, I am very interested in one of these.
An SUV has other advantages. A suspension that can take some extra weight without dragging on the ground. Extra ground clearance to mount betteries under the vehicle, lots of space, etc.
For an SUV, though, you would be better off if you put your efforts elsewhere. It would be cheaper and easier to just make the existing SUV more fuel efficient. Lower it, make it more aerodynamic (tear drop shaped). Rip out all the extra weight, and you'd probably have a more effiecient car than an SUV with 1000 pounds of batteris, generators, and converters.
The problem wasn't necessarily with Shaw. Shaw's problems were relatively minor. Internet and television services were affected over a small geographic area (downtown Calgary). Those affected by the Internet outage who also had Shaw Home Phone, couldn't use their phone as the network was down. If they called 911 on a cell phone or a land line, they would have received help.
The real problem was with the datacenter that is housed in the same building. 20,000 consumer class Internet outages is nothing compared to (Estimate, based on almost nothing)5,000 servers going down. The Fire Dept was involved, so power is going to get cut whether they like it or not, but there were still other problems. There are reports that the backup generators didn't kick in (whether or not that would have avoided the outage, I don't know). I have received indication that if those backup generators had worked, service could have been restored slightly faster(I'm hearing this all 3rd party, so salt is needed).
IBM runs the datacenter where the servers live. Who screwed up? IBM? Shaw? Someone else? I don't know. We'll have to wait and see.
Shaw court is an IBM datacenter. Many companies lost critical servers. We had a couple dozen there that are still coming back up. This didn't just affect shaw, but also big customers that pay big money for uptime.

No offence to the OP, but you can't fix stupid.
I don't know bow it's administered, but I'd rather die...
I'm looking for some nice music... If you feel like it, send me a few of your favourite artist/abum names to snowraver1[at]hotmail.com.

Don't look too deep. It was just a stupid reply to a stupid comment.

Hey now, Snakes and Ladders is far better than Monopoly!

I got:
HE QUIK BROWN FO JUPED OER HE LA DOG
This was on a Lenovo USB Keyboard
Lameness filter encountered. Post aborted! Filter error: Don't use so many caps. It's like YELLING.
I was expecting something like an os reinstall or something... Those instructions seem simple and straightforward.
I don't know about you, but I will likely never have $2,000,000 in the bank. That is how much coverage I have for my car insurance
Yea, but the only reason that rover ever made it to Mars is because I was praying it would.
Even better, it's nuclear powered!

Probably about 1-2 books. It only contained about 1.8 Megajules of energy. The duration was very short.
Oh yeah, I also heard that IBM will be incurring HUGE fines from SLAs. I think I heard some obscene number like 1M/minute.

I built my computer 3 years ago for $400 + scavanged parts. It dual core 4 gb of ram win7. I have no plans on upgrading.
Has anyone here tried blackberry mobile fusion? Is it good?
