'Real' digital cash lives at a banking institution, and may be private (depending on your definition of private), but it is not anonymous. Electronic payment certainly does not have the same advantages as cash. You can't use it without an account. How can you give your child $5 for candy? It is not anonymous, and is not accepted everywhere. Real cash is easier too. Cash is also easily converted between different currencies. It's not as easy to convert a Visa card to a Mastercard.

Traffic laws are a sore spot for me. It pisses me off that a cop will sit on the side of a 6 lane road (3 lanes each way) ticketing people for going faster than the 60km/h speed limit on a divided road with no crosswalks (at the crest of a hill no less). Meanwhile, nearby there is a playground zone with kids playing, and people zip through there, but no cop in sight.

I think that police should focus on areas where they can actually improve public safety, specifically, school and playground zones. It is very, very, very rare to see a police officer ticketing people speeding or passing in a playground zone. Dont get me started on automated systems (multinova, red light cams, speed on green).

It's just something to put after whatever you want to find on the internet. They don't know, or care, why a .com is at the end. Also, I assume that these TLDs would have good google pagerank, so maybe that alone is worth hopping on the bandwagon.

The parent comment is not funny - Its insightful.

I think it's a stupid idea as much as the next poster here, but I really think this is going to play a part in the future. Imagine typing only "google" into the address bar and getting google. Tickets could take you to ticketmaster. It won't be ticketmaster.tickets, it will just be tickets, with a recirect to ticketmaster.com. It's like taking out the www. "www.google.com" becomes "google.com" becomes "google". It also is "exclusive". The barrier to entry is rather high for a non-large organization (100K + yearly fees IIRC, which I may not) It would create a divide between the haves and have nots. The havenots get stuck with putting .com or .net or whatever behind their names.

The parent nailed it though. Keywords are back baby!

I also recently bought a playbook (6 months ago), and it is really great! At $200 I don't understand why everyone doesn't have one. It is really a great peice of hardware, and the QNX OS is really good. In 6 months, I have had numerous application level crashes, but only one OS crash. I think that's pretty good.

I'm really looking forward to the new selection of BB phones that actually run QNX. I just hope blackberry is still in business by then... If you haven't tried a playbook yet, try one. It's 1/3 the price of an iPad and it's really great!
