Technically china's a 2nd world country, since the 2nd world is the communist world, but the 3 classes of world really disapeared, developing is the new nice sensitive word for anyone who doesn't meet the wests standards.
IM/SMS for short messages or conversations both have to improve MSN forgets messages sent when the other party is offline and SMS costs to much to have a conversation over it.
And blogs are for all those amateur newspaper collomists:)... if Email's are for old people, it's just because the kids havn't grown up enough to be writing letters. 'Mr Bnk Mn, I need morgage, giv us appoimt to see u?'.. don't think so:)
Well what can I say, it's a work in progress for sure, though it looks like a solid foundation, even a bunch of idiots could build a decent desktop ontop of something this good:)
Hopfully soon it'll not be a fake transparent terminal, ahh true transparancy to see that beautiful anime girl on my background... uhh wait a minute I'm not a sterotype.
It is possible, and I hear it can be triggered by stress and ill health combined... also rarely diagnosed unless you happen to find a doctor who believes in it.
The goverment shouln't be in competition with the free market, but it shouln't be leting the free market do whatever it likes as long as it's within the law.
Public industury may be a bad idea, but the free market doesn't have any interest helping the poor, when I visit a poor neighbourhood I see betting shops, pawn brokers, check cachers, and the like, the free market at work, making a profit from those who really can't afford to be used as a profit making scheme.
Private enterprise needs to be regulated, after all the goverment is represnentive of the people, and as a representitive of the private sector's customers should have the right to demand a certain level of service for all customers, be they the poor, the sick or the internetless;)
In the 17th century, the origin of the word is only really misleading in it's modern context, and since I would imagine a large percentage of the population of the west is ignorant of west european history I think it's not really the best thing to be pointing out how the caesar word was adoped into the Slavic languages as a term for Emperor.
Deminishing returns isn't really the case, as you work longer and longer the returns get exponentially worse until the point where you go insane though sleep deprevation.
People in this world are pushing themselves to hard to get ahead, sacrificing yourself for your job isn't a good idea, work hard, but don't over-work, play hard, but don't over-play, live a balanced live, live a long and happy life, don't work 80 hours a week stress out when it all goes horridly wrong and jump off the side of the building because you can't face the hell that youve made for yourself:)
Never understood why the US is so oposed to the goverment providing anything which could possibly be provided by a private company, the goverement is the people, arn't the people allowed to provide for themselves?
Nothing wrong at all with software patents, however there is a significant problem with the fact that many do not present any significant inovation.
The European Parliament, composed of democraticly elected MEPs voted for a limited and fairly acceptable law which allowed limited software patents, though I'm not sure if it included my desire for patent clamants to demonstrate a inovative leap.
The Council of Ministers however is rejecting this democraticly chosen version in favor of it's own infulenced by big industury, which includes all the problems of the US system with 'patentability of computer programs, data structures and process descriptions'.
So that should let microsoft patent the MS Word format, general systems patents like credit card transaction systems for online use, and any computer program you happen to come up with:/
Well it might not be a wiretap, but it would be concidered at least to me survalance which would require a court order to do, same as fixing a camera in your bathroom, doubt the feds can do that without a court order.
"Moreover, users should learn to practice safe computing habits, which include avoiding web sites and programs of unknown or dubious provenance and carefully reading End User License Agreements and Privacy Policies."
Am I the only one who doubts that will come true any time soon, we all know how to click on a button as a reflex action, reading a lengthy EULA full of lawyerspeek... that's a headache.
1/4 the time your probably breaking the law when you do that, there are strict laws governeing what you can and can't do with information about european citizens. I know any 'information handler' which operates with the UK has to have a data protection statement, be registered as a data handler, and needs to keep all it's data on file for several years as any person must be able to get a copy of all the information held on themselves for no more than 10 pounds (about 30 dolars).
Seems to be more and more firefox is leaning towards the 'Weve blocked this, click here to find out why' approach, would be nice if this was extended to all areas including dangerous java programs/etc.
Your a bafoon, HE can't - it's not his site, it's someone who's stolen his content.
Arguablly there arseholes for sueing google because they can't find the people who are really ripping off there content, or the people who are guilty arn't rich enough.
Strange comment now google now does picture adverts, admitidly there not very common to spot but they are out there, quite a few google image adverts pop up on a forum I frequent.
Why fork it, because people won't upgrade from 2.4 to 2.6 until they can see 2.6 being rock solid, really I think the motivation behind actively developing 2.6 for a long time was driven by geeks and there ideals, as is the usual way, instead of any wish to help industury which refrains from using anything which might be slightly un-stable.

I think he mentioned that they were available from download.com, that service is available within the EU.

I don't think the slashdot adverts come from OSDN's advert server not google directly, so there just adverts advertising google, not google adverts :)
I don't think it's gonna be that popular down town :)
Strange comment now google now does picture adverts, admitidly there not very common to spot but they are out there, quite a few google image adverts pop up on a forum I frequent.
It's really the fact there spot lights.. though I'd admit to being quite interested in normal light bulbs, light pannels etc with LED's.

You know, some people use porn as part of keeping a marage alive and interesting...
Though it takes two to tango, and normally one or the other probably objects to porn.
So we get to blame the US when we all die horridly under a sunless sky.
