    Which part was wrong?

  2. "Figuring out which are biological and which are cultural is really, really hard." Really? I'll bet a Y-chromosome can be detected in the vast majority of cases when trying to, as I suggested, figure out the "difference between men and women."

  3. Honey why don't you ask for directions? on The No-GPS Road Trip (popularmechanics.com) · · Score: 1

Hey, you want a paper map? Print it off of Google. I'm not sure which part of this is funniest - young guy discovers maps (something even Columbus knew about) or that there's a picture of him asking a woman for directions at the top of the page--like any man every did that (at least according to women).

  4. Interesting. Apparently it's possible (and acceptable) to believe in the ability of people to predict the globe's temperature to the 10th of a degree 200 years from now, but it is not possible to believe that science can detect a difference between men and women.

  7. conditional weather on Being Outside Could Become Deadly In South Asia, Says Study (go.com) · · Score: 1

I note the use of "could become" in the headline. Before I jump into the deep end in response to this latest dire hysterical warning, can someone please list all the accurate warmer predictions from the last decade? Preferably someone who has actually spent a summer working outside in the Earth's tropical (or even near-tropical) zone, and not someone who spends all his time in air conditioned comfort in front of a computer display.

  11. Here you go: "Illinois’ out-migration rate per 1,000 residents is the worst in the region by several multiples." Maybe you can "see" the data even if you can quite make out all the moving vans. https://www.illinoispolicy.org...

...pity the poor censor. Have any of you asked yourself why this is Google's business? Please don't tell me they need to do it, because the material is objectionable--I got that. Unfortunately, that metric can be applied to your political opinion, too. Is this just one of those little things we need protection against? Well, thank god there's someone to sort that out.

  13. This a good thing. Really. on US Military Moving Closer To Automated Killing · · Score: 1

The reality is that this is a good thing for everyone. Until very recently warfare has been an exceedingly haphazard and indiscriminate affair. Literally millions were killed using lower-tech methods. Smart weapons have allowed at least the reasonably conscientious nations to carrying out military actions with less harm to non-combatants. (Of course some mass killers still prefer the old methods.) These new developments also allow for the development of warfare more along the lines of law enforcement--something I would have expected users of this forum to appreciate. That certainly seems to be the way the Obama administration is using it.

The best one-to-one simulation already exists. (See the third planet from a small G-type star, Sol, etc.) "Everything?" I suspect they eventually learn how to spell 'hubris.' Seriously, didn't they learn anything from Lorenz about the inherent rounding errors? Get ready for the new threat of Environment Change! It'll only take money to fix it, I bet.
