Packers are gonna win the superbowl this year! Shortly after the win, Microsoft will open the source for Windows, and the RIAA will agree that filesharing constitutes fair use.
We recently had "Pandemic awareness" training here at my job. (Fortune 500 manufacturer/retail goods)
The end result? We learned that we were having the training because "Awareness" was the first step in their plan, should there be a pandemic.... but no other portion of the plan had been completed yet. Needless to say - if there's actually an outbreak, my company, along with many others (IMO) would be screwed.
MS is obviously at least slightly worried or they wouldn't have issued the PR in the first place. FSF issued the press release, not MS.
MS would argue that merely giving out the vouchers is not distribution but most people (the FSF included) see it differently. Sorry, but most people, (IANAL) including judges IMO, would not. If I buy a movie from blockbuster, and they give me a coupon for a free whopper from Burger King, would blockbuster be suddenly responsible for the conduct of the BK employees and the food service?
Sounds like FSF just wanted to get in the news. Or on slashdot, or whatever. Reading the press release, they don't really SAY much... other than "We hate you Microsoft, neener neener neener."
Maybe I'm ignorant, but for the non-FPS inclined population there are few interesting titles coming out for the 360 in the relatively near future. Well.. Maybe you are ignorant, then. Blue Dragon, Stranglehold, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, PGR4, Beautiful Katamari, Ace Combat 6, Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band...
Buzz on this game has been phenomenal - has there been any sales figures released yet? Would you kindly post them? I'm curious if it can beat Gears as the best selling "next-gen" game..
You must not be from New Jersey or New York. These states have been Democratic locks for years, even though local, county, state, and federal officials have been involved in more unethical and corrupt activities than you could imagine. Hell, only a couple of weeks ago, it came to light that NY Gov Elliot Spitzer was sending the AG office to gather dirt on a rival.
See, this is the kind of attitude that perpetuates stupidity in America. For every ethics violation and illegal act done by Republicans, Democrats have matched them. This is exactly why we need a viable third party that can field actual candidates. And people like you are the reason that Hillary will get the nomination and the Repubs will turn out in droves and win the white house again.
Allowed by whom? The WTO? You should realize by now that the US doesn't give a shit about international organizations and their silly "rules." America. Fuck Yeah.
Just remember - there is no such thing as global warming. Hurricanes blasting up to category 5 in a few days, droughts, floods, etc. - all of it is just coincidence and would happen whether we pumped billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere or not. Correlation does not imply causation.
The vast majority of Americans take the "Hey, if it has the chance of keeping me safer, it's ok" stance with the TSA. I recently took an international flight out of the US on a Sunday morning - which is one of the "busy" times. Only took me 20 minutes to get through the security checkpoint line. To keep things in perspective, I spoke to a few people that didn't check-in/print boarding passes online - it took them 2 hours to get their luggage checked, but only 10 minutes to get through security. I know the TSA is a regular punching bag on slashdot.. but it's really a *minor* inconvenience that has the potential to stop a few idiots from doing stupid things. Is there really so much wrong with that?
.... and considered an acceptable way to impress a girl. So you're saying that I'm not going to get any play for changing my college's webpage to a goatse picture? Damn...
You're on the fringe. Polling continually shows that a very high percentage (70-95%) of the entire world believes in some higher power. Please recognize this.. and the fact that if some pissant has his question asked about evolution, which ever candidate gets it and professes his faith will only gain percentage points.
"But they are fearful of alienating players by cramming TV and other content into the game." Why? They weren't fearful of alienating fans of music by cramming crap onto their network...
Is it just me, or did MIT just create a new biological weapon? Now, I'm not a medical researcher, but it's my understanding that stem cells are useful in that they can create or recreate any structure in the body. Couldn't this be modified (by terrorists) to inject / infect people with a cancerous stem cell that spreads and infects? Or, is this not scientifically possible?
Is it now the responsibility of the RIAA / US DOJ to show that the $750/song is constitutional? Or is it the defendant's responsibility to show it is unconstitutional? How would this work?
Which would still be cheaper than buying a PS3, Sony Fanboy.
I'm sure Jack Thompson will blame this on BioShock.

That'd clearly be Dennis Kucinich!

Wouldn't this be a monumental pain in the ass to administer and enforce?
And another poll shows that 99.9% of the world's population has more sex (any, ever) than the average slashdot reader. Your point?

This was already shot down in the NY state senate weeks ago. Gotta love the Times.

Pinky (or was it the Brain?) was the first schizophrenic mouse.
Sony doesn't pay for exclusives.. or do they?
