2049: At long last, after decades of hyperscans and analysis, scientists acknowledge that we still have no understanding of what happens to brains in committees.
I was about to pay several million dollars to pass my son off as the world's greatest collegiate hockey prospect (except he can't skate and is in his 40s) when I saw this Slashdot article. Now I've done something even better: I signed him up at the University Of American Samoa for a law degree! Go Land Crabs!
Devuan for sure! Interestingly, MX Linux (steadily climbing up DistroWatch's page hit rankings to #2 at present) allows installation without systemd, but I don't know whether MX has gone to the extent of Devuan in actually ripping it out or just working around it.
When Blackberry purchased QNX, they intended that the auto industry would be fertile new soil for that terrific real time OS. Years later, the rise of Automotive Grade Linux seems to indicate that the QNX platform has had some sort of impediments that are likely non-technical, perhaps to do with licensing?
More like failed at nothing, since the demo asks: "...what's the product we're providing in this research? It is a sample augmentation system that is provided to augment computer system development. In addition the aim is to provide tools for generating further, improved augmentation systems--bootstrapping." -- THE DEMO
They had a whole lotta revolutionary stuff (for 1968) to demonstrate first before boring themselves and everyone else with navel-gazing about potential futures of computing. Failed at nothing.
There are competing definitions of the altitude at which one is actually in "space". Some organizations (i.e. USAF) say 80km, some (international records-keeping bodies) say 100km.
How am I supposed to remember that IP address? If only there was a system to translate such IP addresses into more human-friendly names that are easier to remember...
So, who amongst geeks or hardware hackers needs Amazon or official Apple Macbooks? Refurbished Macbooks are aplenty on ebay, as always. Similarly, macos Mojave works on cheap linux-using laptops in vmware with some tweaking.
It has to be activated on the server side, so if you're tired of endless ReCAPTCHA loops of fire hydrants, buses, stairs, chimneys, traffic lights, etc. etc. then ask the site(s) to enable it.
Meanwhile, the Western world moves forward in ridding us from the burden and yoke of outdated systems that reward a self-selective socio-economic gender-rigid elite. Of course there is panic from those finally being swept aside.
Indigenous Alaskan people are literally almost always Inuit or Aleut. That is a fact that is beyond dispute, so it is very weird that you have such a problem with that. You seem to be really wigging out about it.
I knew Aldous Huxley. I worked with Aldous Huxley. Aldous Huxley was a friend of mine, and I can tell you, sir... that I'm standin' next to a mountain, choppin' down with the edge o' my hand.
Are the powerful, white, greying power elites really that mobile that they'd up and move to another state? It happens, but not the way you're imagining. A smart person would check out the lay of the land before making a knee-jerk, anger-based life change.

Thanks Slashdot!
Unless I take the list of evil URLs and make my boss's hosts file point everything at them. Naw, I'd *never* do such a thing.
He just did.
Spoiler alert: He's not happy about it.
...and that macroblocking is straight out of Wolfenstein 3D, so it has several layers of Meta! Top notch!
Wait 'til Hitler finds out!!!
Where the hell is the damned list of all ~18,000 apps? None of the given links provide this obviously necessary information.

Are there any car manufacturers that makes a non-connected just plain, regular car currently?
Check the JDM market if you can get registration and insurance for one of those where you live.

Thanks for the list in simple, easy to read text without the crud. The FT article seems to be paywalled.

Slashdot has had political posts for nearly two decades even back when Taco was running the show. Get over yourself.
You realize I said "Politico" and not "political", right? Get over yourself yourself, then.
This is Slashdot, right?

Indeed, that is the reality, and I applaud your comment.
