I really, sincerely hope that they will avoid ever using the weak connection of the original N900's MicroUSB socket that caused bricking when it separated from the PCB.
Canadian telecom carriers have used the negative option for decades, been scolded by consumer groups and regulators almost every time, yet keep coming back with the old "we're going to go ahead and do this to you unless you say no, and by the way you can pick up the NO form by... um... we're not sure where it is..."
Thanks for the reminder. We weren't given much heads up time either. After that we went with a Solaris/HP-UX mix over ethernet, and we kept a couple of the Apollo Domain systems separate from everything else on their original token ring for legacy testing of app code by developers. The coders didn't care why the underlying machines and network had changed, so we felt that the transition had gone quite well.
I think this was probably the reason why Apollo Domain could not survive: with the state of mainstream Unix's networking capabilities, by the time of the HP purchase it was no big deal to replace everything once the developers had ported over their code. To bring this full circle to TFA, Linux is more than capable of taking on network-OS tasks so it was about time for it to do so.
We had time clock problems with our Apollo Domain systems, and there was no fix from Apollo - we had to avoid letting the year change. I can't remember if it was something like the Unix 2038 problem. Anyone remember that?
Patented to the hilt, I'm sure. I doubt there are any open source projects of this type, so once again humanity is gripped firmly by the invisible hand of the profit motive.
It isn't you, its me. I'm leaving you for India, as she is so much more able to fulfil my needs. I truly hope that you will find someone new. Let's be friends. - Uncle Sam.
Going into a theatre to watch any science fiction film implies a tacit agreement that what will be seen may or may not reflect our best scientific knowledge and conjecture. That's the whole point: entertainment. If you're into cinematic kitsch it is especially entertaining to see films that get the science very, very wrong, and you don't come out thinking that you just watched an episode of Nova that you could have watched at home.
My profit here is not in dollars and cents, but anyway I don't have to justify to anyone why I choose to engage or not in any profit-making activity, right? I therefore stand my ground and confirm that I am indeed being selfish.
That's a pretty harsh slapdown of DIYers, coming from someone with a 5-digit Slashdot ID.

The RAF screwed up Nazi radar with "Window", which is the precursor of the NASA Project West Ford:

Nope, it was the original sequence in which Greedo and Han shoot simultaneously.
Looking at these Nokia RT devices is a bit like looking at a Studebaker showroom, knowing that the company would soon be gone.

It loaded perfectly just now. Anyway, it is kind of hypnotic after a few minutes... can't... shut... it... offfffff.......

How about if you turn your corporate web site into a public Wiki just like Wikipedia? We'd love to help you improve your corporate image.

India says she will help me pay you back, and that I won't even notice any difference. She needs me, and I need her. - Uncle Sam.

After all these years the mortgage on the undersea VLF Numbers Station was finally paid off, and now this... this!!!
Iron Sky... d'oh, I just did a Godwin!

Hee hee, you win. I am John Galt though.
It is immoral for you to question why someone would charge you for their services, isn't it?
Honestly, I am being selfish.
You sure fixed my wagon, yessiree! That'll teach me.
Vendetta-posting... how quaint.
