I've noticed a lot of these type of posts on every online news article that even mentions Obama.
I've got very good employer health care coverage, and there are always a ton of posts saying something like: "My insurance premiums are going up from [unreasonably low number] to [high number] thanks to Obamacare." Either I and everyone else I've ever personally talked to is getting ripped off, or there are indeed a bunch of sock-puppets purposefully spreading disinformation.
Just checked it out, and in about 45 seconds, I was looking through the qualified plans (had to lie about my state so I didn't get sent to the state exchange). The enrollment area could be screwed up, but I'm not checking that, since I have insurance through my employer and my state has its own exchange, so I couldn't use it anyway.
Overall, from what I've been hearing on the news, I was expecting something that looked like msn from 2005 viewed in Netscape, and the plans to be terrible and expensive, but the prices actually seem better than what my employer's paying now for similar deductibles.
Except the object it collided with isn't moving at all, it's sitting still and is wedged between the unmoving earth and the 2108 kg car that is actually moving at 31 m/s.
Or about 600 times the muzzle energy of a.44 magnum load according to your numbers.
The dock also seems to have 7 [visible] USB ports, a pair of mini displayports, an ethernet jack, and two unidentified holes (1 on the side, 1 on the back). I assume at least some of those USB ports are USB3, seems like having the dock is definitely worth it.
The Tesla has 6.1 inches of ground clearance, it looks like this underneath: http://boronextrication.com/tag/hv/ If you look at the pictures, the battery is actually recessed between the frame railes by about an inch or so.
Now here's the underside of a Prius (5.7 inches ground clearance according to the numbers I could find on random forums?) http://priuschat.com/threads/photos-taken-of-the-bottom-of-my-prius.68549/ The fuel tank is mounted so it is flush with the underbelly panels, about the same height as the Tesla's battery.
The big difference I see is that the Prius tank is way in the back, where anything that's going to be high enough to stab the car will probably stab it up front where the engine is, not the tank where all the energy is stored.
Your car is still pretty well screwed either way though.
The default behavior is to update the metadata on a search (if it's past some period of time old, I can't remember), but if you want to just search without a metadata update, all you have to do is add -C.
yum -C search whateveryouresearchingfor
There's probably an option in yum.conf to disable automatically checking the servers, but adding -C has never bothered me enough to even look in the file:-).
My Nexus S also has one... basically, you get this functionality free with a solid state compass, which most phones have to help improve GPS accuracy and accelerometer data. Solid state compasses are basically just an arrangement of a couple hall-effect sensors that are acted on by earth's magnetic field.
Agreed, but I would HIGHLY recommend sticking with the stable releases. The nightlies are fun for about a week until you realize your phone isn't reliable enough to be used as a phone:).
The Cyanogen install on a Nexus device is pretty easy, and even if you're not moving up a full version, you'll get a lot of improvements scattered throughout.
Carbon loss is not irrelevant since biomass breaks down in the soil to form humus (which is almost entirely carbon). It increases the soil's CEC (cation exchange capacity), which leads to greater soil nutrient holding, reduced leaching, better soil availability of macro/micronutrients and hence reduced need for fertilizer.
Biochar is just a product that essentially shortcuts a lot of the microbial respiration steps to reduce OM to humus by burning. In that way it's not as good as good old tillage with whatever biomass is left. Short term, yes biochar can cause a bloom in bacterial populations, but IMO it's like the soil biota version of refined white sugar.
What are you talking about? The first three results are a whole fixture made to replace the entire can light.
LED downlights don't exist/only for commercial applications?
https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=led+downlight+fixture&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest#channel=suggest&q=led+downlight+fixture&tbm=shop
I can also get them at Costco right next to the PAR-32 and PAR-38 LED bulbs.
Also for the GP, what you're looking for for your garage is called an LED panel light fixture:
https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=led+panel+light+fixture&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest#channel=suggest&q=led+panel+light+fixture&tbm=shop
Costco has them here... $8 for a three pack of 40 watt equivalent LEDs in a candelabra bulb shape.
They don't have Portal 2 yet :-(
+1 verbal smackdown.

This was on Opera, BTW.

@2:10, the doors look like they need less clearance than a regular door.

The PBDoS is no joke.
Or, you know, a wildflower in the Scroph family.

I was trying to mod you up and hit overrated.
Posted to undo moderation.

I would assume there will be a rating/review system a la ebay/resellerratings/angieslist... no reviews, poor reviews, don't pay that person for help.
It doesn't demand anything of the sort.

Um, that's for 1 hour.
10m^2 * 100 w/m^2 * 8 hr = 8000 wh, or 80% of his commute. Not bad.
I like white lithium grease for underhood mechanicals like this.
This is probably the best list of any kind I've ever read on Slashdot.
