But some laws might make sense. Universal background checks and keeping tracks of arsenals might have helped. Maybe if the FBI had the ability to keep track of sales and went by the house and asked the mom why she needed an arsenal it might have lead to helping her paranoia or victim mentality. Helping her might have helped the kid. But we can't keep track of who owns a gun because of second amendment issues.
The BATFE knows exactly who has bought any weapon from a FFL'd dealer via the required 4473 form. Note that this does not include private sales in some states (yet). They are, by law, to keep these records for no more than 48 hours or something like that, but have admitted to keeping them indefinitely for "statistical" purposes.
Add the whole gun round up after Katrina, our government's multiple abuses of Census data (that was also supposedly protected) and now I can't see why anyone would not have some sympathy with the NRA's causes.
If you want to get rid of guns, repeal the 2nd. Don't start making useless but feel good laws that pave the way to the government abusing people's rights, that shall not be infringed.
Harley's are a typical mid-life crisis vehicle for the uninformed. The 4-wheel version is the corvette. You'd have to be an idiot to buy one, they are overpriced, unreliable (although the last 10 years has seen incredible increases in that dpt., admittedly), and aimed at people who just want to look cool. They are horrendously slow and inefficient. The engine is designed around making a sound, not going anywhere.
A friend went to a HD dealer once, his dad wanted one. They left after the guy said: "You aren't buying a motorcycle, you're buying a lifestyle."
Actually ethanol burns worse than gasoline and (if you make it our way) takes more energy to make than you get from burning it, but that's ok because of, well, I have to really reach for this one -- JOB CREATION!
Wait, what generates more energy than it takes to make then?
I'm doing just fine without any religion, thanks. Unless, of course, you have proof that everybody needs to "balance" out their knowledge with some superstition.
Tackle? I thought everyone was supposed to duck and hide? You can't fight back. You have to do what the bad guy wants, and then he'll let you... oh wait.
This is what I've done too.
Plus, ssh server and it's my router as well. Even more,
drop torrent files in a specified folder, and they are automagically downloaded and available for streaming. assuming it isn't some stupid multi-rar download.
The vast majority have logical implements. Chrysler made the PT cruiser (and other cars, I imagine) honk when the lock button is pressed. Even if the doors fail to lock (door ajar, etc.). All Japanese makes (AFAICT), for example, use the honk (or light flash, or whatever) to signal confirmation that doors are, in fact, locked.
Chrysler's engineers like to copy, but do even that poorly some times.
Wow, a sane post?
I agree. The only way to even attempt to prevent these incidents, and actually enforce the GFZs, is to have a single point of entry, metal detectors, and armed guards. Anything other than that is just fantasy land.
The problem isn't JUST guns. While banning and zapping them all out overnight would definitely help, we are missing a point. The US is massively more violent than other countries, guns or not.
What needs to happen are more sane gun laws. Banning the so-called "assault" weapons has had little effect, other than grandstanding. The NICS system is a good start (minus the scary records keeping forever part), but it's link to mental health is non-existent and needs work. I think this is the area that needs the most attention, as it's a common thread in these shootings.
That, and mandatory gun safety classes and proficiency tests would be really nice. But then you've opened the door for what results in states like NJ, where CCW is pretty much banninated. Yet gun crime in major cities is... well, just like any other major city.
Keep in mind though that having our second amendment comes with the price that every once and a while, someone thought able to have a gun shouldn't have had one. It'll never be solved. It's a matter of how much society thinks it's worth. I believe it worth it to have the second amendment to at least have a chance at preventing Wichita Massacre like events, even if sometimes the wrong people die.
But I seem to be becoming more of a minority these days.
Mod parent up!
Justifiable homicides are often lumped into "gun deaths" by jurisdictions with an anti-gun agenda, and then used as a statistic for gun control, and on top of that are the attempted robbery/rape/murders that don't happen because of a firearm used for defense. Those are just written off as "attempted", not "thwarted".
This is hard to say because the majority of police dpts. do not keep records on justifiable homicides. They just lump them in to "gun deaths". Sure helps your cause, doesn't it?
All the ones I've seen are around ~750W. I imagine most of this is during startup judging from how my generator hated life during the first couple seconds.

+90000 Stop making new laws for every new tech.

Well, at least PHP has one thing going for it then.
Hm, that sounds familiar...

You're preaching to the choir.
Newton was a Gun Free Zone. One or more guns entered the zone. Ergo, It was not gun free.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Tackle? I thought everyone was supposed to duck and hide? You can't fight back. You have to do what the bad guy wants, and then he'll let you... oh wait.
"It's a shoulder thing that goes up."
In the same way that an unenforced "Gun Free Zone" does.
It doesn't.
Define "record". If the car takes a few snaphots in the highway, but no one's there to see it, does it make a recording?
His forward velocity probably helped him out a lot.

Negative. Unlocking the car from the inside sets off the alarm. Using your key on any OEM system will disarm the alarm.

The victims of the Wichita Massacre sure could have used the "great equalizer" in their situation.
Arm the kids? Or how about, enforce the Gun Free Zones with armed guards, and a single point of entry. Otherwise, what's the point of GFZs?
But the 2nd doesn't apply... it's a "Gun Free Zone". Isn't this what you wanted?
