    Wrong...

    Your explination requires special software running at the contents original source, and it would take too long to find the initial connection. That's not how Akamai works.

    I suppose so. I bet it only automatically goes to microsoft.com when it's "checking for browser updates", which can be disabled in the advanced settings.

    IE tries the redirect through microsoft.com. If it can't get there in a VERY short amount of time, it will go directly to the homepage. These are just my suspicions. Check your firewall/http proxy logs to verify.

    Not that it really matters to Metallica. The RIAA is shoving tons of money up Lars' ass, keeping him motivated to fight Napster. He could care less if everyone hates him. The RIAA is going to make him much richer than he was before, whether he loses all of his fans or not.

    If you've ever used an Outlook/Exchange combo as a power user, you would know how much better it is than just about anything out there.

    Please name a group messaging function that can't be done with Outlook and Exchange (outside of full cross-platform stuff).

    Windows is way too easy to corrupt with a bad driver, bad hardware, or whatever. Believe me, I've fixed literally hundreds if not thousands of problems over the past few years on the boxen at the school where I work, and a huge percentage of the time, the solution has been "reformat and copy a good hard drive over to this one."

    Why are you installing bad drivers and bad hardware? Use some common sense, please.

    Oh wait, you work at a school. That explains alot.

    You have a very narrow viewpoint. I'll name a few apps that compell people to use Windows: Office, Autocad and Internet Explorer.

    The load balancer probably sent your request to a broken server. After a timeout, it passed your request to a different server. Thats my theory.

    nevermind, I forgot that Linux never crashes. I bet the problem was related to Microsoft.

    The GO publishing system works very well. If you have ever needed a way to seperate code and content, this is it.

    The Tea templating system can be picked up in a few hours. From there, managing a web site becomes extremely fast, simple and reliable.

    This is exactly why companies only let Engineers design system architecture.

    Nice thought process, but not economical or managable. For cheaper and faster results, just add a second, third, fourth CPU.
