    I like the clean look, however, can't even get it here in Europe. Even if I'd wanted, ignoring the missing headphone jack and sub-par camera for that hefty original price. For 499 I might further look over those sub-optimal points, but still can't get it anywhere here, anyways.

  10. Totally agree with the other posts that nothing is wrong with the headphone jack: https://rene.rebe.de/2016-12-0... No lossy bluetooth connection and another battery to charge. Or wear your usbc/lightning charging port. These companies and Apple are pathetic taking all the ports way (e.g. also on the Macs, ...). Wish I could up vote all of you! :-/

  16. Unfortunately Linux suspend / resume is annoying on the Surface's as M$ is not implementing the regular suspend-to-ram state in ACPI. On Windows they only use the connected standby always on state with just as much peripherals suspended as they can. And on Linux I get spurious wake ups in that state from whatever, and even if not the sleep time is not that great :-/ https://t2-project.org/hardwar...

  17. Marketing (bullshit) argument. There is nothing they can wire differently with this monstrous Intel platforms. Everyone is basically shipping Intel reference schematic + whatever add-on glue their price / sales point requires. What should they be able to save between the CPU and chipset glue?

  21. It is so ridiculous. We have this overly complex and backward compatible x86 ISA that still runs all 8086 (https://t2-project.org/architectures/x86/) real mode crap, probably DOS 1.0 and Windows 1, and M$ artificially limits booting based on a switch(cupid) or so, ... What a stupid world.

  22. Gnome (2) was mainstream. Unity was a totally confusing resource hog peace of shit. In 1998 I installed SuSE with KDE at my friends, still would not give anyone Unity crap in 2017. If Ubuntu would just focus on getting rock solid Linux to the people. But no, they need to tinker with everything and f*ck it up in non standard ways. That is not the way to success, and how you make friends, ... My 2 € cents, ...
