  2. Re:Encryption? on P2P Network Exposes Obama's Safehouse Location · · Score: 1

I have seen this at my previous assignment: "sensitive information" is sent to people who need it. It is NOT stored in a secure manner.

Shoot, i've seen people upload personal stuff to the networks share drive! It could be for any # reasons such as work station being worked on and not enough space on their personal drive.

The problem here was some idiot for some reason either installed limewire on a gov't related computer and allowed access to that directory OR had the file (why????) and took it up and put it in a directory that LW can access.

So I don't know why everyone is surprised that the gov't reaction to this is to blow their tops. Me personally would have blocked this problem internally as much as possible. Lock everything down and kill everything that isn't necessary.

Furthermore the problem here with congress is that limewire promised to regulate itself and implement suggestions made. Do any of you remember napster? By default it liked to search your entire hdd for sharing. That pretty much hasn't changed. Look at how paypal handles transactions when you select to pay with a credit card: yes means no and vice versa.

What should be done is a law passed that prohibits and makes illegal being deceptive to "guide" users a specific way the software/interface is programmed to do. In other words, i shouldn't have to click no to use my credit card or have multiple choice in specifying share all directories/files.

But seriously, as some previous comments touched on this is an internal issue that has to be taken care of...

It's called virtue; you can send a nice looking and sounding letter, but if the intent or origins are shady then of course it doesn't matter how sweet you make it sound.

But people like to be fooled to think that as long as you don't "swear" you can be told anything anyway. I remember I had a friend who once told me via IRC "I always have to think about the things you tell me. I never know if you're being serious or making fun of me." That is an excellent example of how you can tell things to people that are offensive without "offensive words."

But in that case my friend was a dumbass so we'd call him on it sometimes LoL So I'm not a jerk to everyone or anything like that! But then again, I am a biker and bikers can do whatever they want! hahaha

  6. Re:About an Autobahn lane projector ? on Bike Projector Makes Lane For Rider · · Score: 1

the only advantage I have on the motorcycle is that no one wants to run me over! Not even the SUV's :(

The worst offenders are tail gaters on the freeway. They feel they can ride on the back seat with their entire car!

My solution is to slow down... one time on the 60 west bound at like 6-8 at night, i was moving at idle speed uphill in the carpool lane. Yes, there was a toyota Sequoya who wouldn't let me pass, they intentionally swerved to try to block me until i pulled a james bond. but once i got past they felt obligated to ride me.

So the upside of this story is that i wasn't run over, the traffic in front of me in the carpool was all gone (in heavy traffic) and the person learned something: don't mess with a crazy biker.

I have all kinds of stories to tell, and a lot of people could say what I do is stupid, but what very few realize is that how stupid drivers are when they just drift into my lane without looking, or how they like to PASS ME and split lanes with me when i'm in the middle of the lane! Or how people throw shit out of their cars at 70 MPH not thinking their cigarette butts can hit me. Or any of the various types of trash i like to call jelly fish get caught up on foot pegs, mirrors and occasionally helmets.

  19. No, not flash! No really... on HTML 5 As a Viable Alternative To Flash? · · Score: 1

The reason flash is so popular is because many people can use it to express themselves. I actually use it for design work that is not on-line related at all! People actually laugh when I tell them because they think i'm joking, but they only limit themselves to "it's for online animation."

While I agree that flash at many points was over used and abused, it does have its merits. Unfortunately now a days even my 3ghz P4 isn't enough to quickly handle all the flash that is thrown at it, and that's disappointing. So something has to be done.

If another technology emerges that can truly replace it for the professionals, then so be it. But for amateur hour it's still one of the best resources out there.

With out it, we would never had had all your base are belong to us, stickfu and all the random crap i've created over the years including cheesy/cool xmas greetings and valentine "cards" (all with stolen source images).

But don't worry, adobe sucks and they'll kill it themselves soon enough. :P

Oh and I almost forgot, i am surprised no one ever figured out how to spread viruses through it, while doing some stuff for personal sites i came across some interesting code that could allow such a thing in a very easy way. But hopefully since then, it's been fixed. Since flash 5 though they've started to add a lot more security to prevent such things which is a good thing.
