  1. I was left with no choice! on Saying No To Promotions Away From Tech? · · Score: 1

I had been with this company for 2-3 years when my site/location shut down. Fortunately for me my company has many clients, but not many of them had open positions. So when it was time for me to pack up and go elsewhere (in the company) I wasn't given many choices as to where I wanted to go. So after reviewing what they offered me, I understood that it really wasn't a choice at all. But more than anything it benefited my company and manager (of where they were pushing me off to).

So what it really comes down to I think, is weighing the benefits of taking such a position. I had stayed close home for several reasons (personal), and that is why I had never taken a better paying position that was considerably further. But where I ended up works out ok, is about the same distance from where I was at before, but takes a lot longer to get to. The pay is slightly better, traffic a lot worse, environment the same (great coworkers), work load is a little weird. Before, I was busy but doing other things, here I am fulfilling a role that is not mine to do. That could do me good some day as being offered employment by the client. So, all things considered this is acceptable for me.

But it comes down to how much do you value your time? Are you willing to give up your free days to be on call? Is the pay worth it? Having had the same schedule (4 x 10 and on call) I didn't mind it. But then again I was younger, single and getting great money for what I did at the time.

I said That is partly correct. Anyone can be a dish washer, man or woman, boy or girl. But there are also machines that wash dishes. Those are called "dish washers."
"No, a dish washer is a man who washes the dishes."

So, really, not only is Christianity not monotheistic, but it's not even a single religion :)

I don't know where you get that from. All christians believe in One God. There are different ways of i guess, you could say, 'worshiping' that One God. As opposed to the greeks and romans who had many gods (regardless of major, minor or mixed).

I was just talking about this with my gf on our way home. Although catholics believe in the 'holy trinity,' they don't worship jesus nor the holy spirit as 'God,' because there is only 'One God.' This brings me to a very good convo Socrates had with Meno, in which he asked 'what makes something holy? is it holy so then god adores it? or does god adoring it make it holy?' That's very difficult to answer (if you believe in such things). But the saints are not worshiped as 'god(s)' as there is only 'One God.'

But I think anyone who takes the time to think about how most people are (and need to be) can answer that question; people are like little pieces of metal that want to align themselves to a magnets field. Sometimes, you'll have a few that just don't quite fit - so they find a different field. Most people have this innate need to belong to something. But I wouldn't go as far as saying that you'd be lucky to find 10 or 15 people who agree... how many people speak english, and how many of those share common ideas? What about political beliefs? Look at the #2 most spoken language in the world and see how diverse they can be. This is a great example of a syllogism, all people who are Christians believe in One God, but not all who believe in One God are Christians. But for the most part, almost all catholics share the same point of view, that's why there are a lot less forks under Catholicism than there is Christianity.

I don't agree that "all christians are catholics," because the opposite is true (all catholics are christians). Please see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity#Main_grouping_of_Christianity

Another major difference between catholics and christians is that catholics have a set hierarchy in that they follow 1 set of beliefs established at the top, and christians do not have a similar structure. For example, catholics have the Pope, cardinals, bishops, priests etc etc. Some christians only have reverends and no head to their organization (outside of their 'church') where they all share common ideas/beliefs/morals. Also you work your way up in the catholic structure, yet anyone can be a reverend (you can sign up online to become an ordained minister!).

Then I got another ATI card, a rage I think, had very buggy drivers. Next was a radeon, don't remember what kind. Still same problem, i was poor and it had buggy drivers. After that I got a sony desktop replacement (notebook p4 2ghz 512MB ram!) and it has a radeon mobility 7500, pos! After that it was all nvidia. Well, except for the HD, but that card sucks too lol. It was the highest end card I could find for an old system, which was cheaper than getting a new cpu/mobo etc. And while I regret buying it (replacing a 6600gt) it plays the game i want, not especially well, but enough to hold out for a quad core with a nice nvidia!

I know some people who don't mind the glitchy software (such as having to boot with external video cables in place or else display is not accessible) but since I'm somewhat of a 'power user' (doing more shit than i should with things not mean to do it) I like to be able to go back and forth without having to reboot. Nvidia gave me that ability without any problems.

But I will agree that many have said that since AMD took over ATI is much better. I just don't like any of my past experiences with ATI

I don't understand anyone's arguments against winmo phones. I had a titan which rocked, went to touch pro which is good (doesn't have enough buttons!) but is slowly dying (buttons don't work very well anymore). The customizations we have on our phones are AWESOME!

It depends on what YOU like and want. But the guys at work who had iphones always tried to out do me with "i have an app that does this or that" and not only did i have something comparable, but most of the time they were #1) free #2) better (more options, less limits). I don't see why other than a larger screen anyone would want an iphone.

And like someone else said, HTC nor sprint/verizon etc don't support the customizing of the phone sets - but that's ok because they same process they use to flash official upgrades we use as well, just with patched software! And thennnnnnn I think google would be great if they did release their phone, but even if they didn't, i hope all carriers release phones with their OS because guess what? #1 CPU overheats. Turns out they had shitty design of cpu/heatsink and it's a common problem for everyone. Solution: Sony says send it in for a fee. Real fix: Blow the dust out every 2 weeks or so.

#2 Hinge breaks out of NO WHERE! Having babied this bad boy for ever it's unacceptable that it breaks. Turns out its bad hinge design. I barely fixed it after having been busted for 2-3 years and it turns out BOTH hinges can't be turned by hand at all. You need some good pliers. Soaked in WD-40 and they still don't turn. The screws that go through the hinge attach to the plastic cover plate! So of course they are busted and should have the cover replaced. Bring in the Ghetto! The only 2 good things I can say about this note book is that it runs FreeBSD without issues (had to do some work to get screen brightness controls working - reminds me, have to reply to another post on how to get that to work) and the screen has been pretty bitchen. It has a white spot in the top left quarter of screen the size of an pencil eraser.

Oh and while working on the hinges i "broke" the power and memory card reader ribbon cables. So from paying $35 for 1 of them from sony i got both for $18 on ebay (thank god). Then i tried to replace the heat paste on the heat sink only to find out it can't be removed, they must have used that sticky shit on it instead of regular spread wtf?

It's old, heavy and a bitch to use with modern software (windows 7 testing ATM - runs good actually) but i'll replace it only until it won't turn on again (and i can't fix it!).
