Oh so you caught the sarcasm? Too bad you didn't catch the fact that my screen name is ramandu, not tjwhaynes; I never posted the links you used for your well thought out summary.

I only saw one image on the resynthesizer page, is that what you're comparing to the demo? If it is then I agree, the adobe demo is much more awe inspiring; however flashy tech demos are not a very valuable metric when comparing the actual capabilities.

And pray tell, just what you base that on? A 360p youtube video? Or perhaps you have access to the full resolution before, and after images shown in the video? Perhaps it's best to wait and see what this tool can do in real life, before touting it's superior "quality".

    Just saying.

"There"? I'll assume you mean "their", but that doesn't make much more sense than what you typed. You see, if I pay for a computer I expect to have the rights that go along with ownership; which includes the right to put what ever legal software I have on it. If Apple was loaning me a computer, I could see them not allowing me to install what ever I wanted on it. But such is not the case.

Eh, I never said it was new, just that it was a failed meme. Though you're right, it's a couple of years old, the oldest post I found was in 2004. But I have better things to do than debate the time line of slashdot memes, or at least I would like to think so.

It's a meme some AC's have been trying to start; so far it has been a "no go". But I for one am happy that it has been failing, slashdot really doesn't need to have another crappy meme.

A lot of people have a elitist attitude in the Linux community; but it's not restricted to just one group (i.e., the developers or the users). It's the same elsewhere in other OS's as well. But still I find the users are the most likely to espouse elitist attitudes, not the devs.

I'm afraid you are a little confused; most people don't have a XP disc, let alone install from it. The majority of people buy a computer that has the OS already installed by the OEM.

You make it sound as if I was accusing you; I wasn't. All I wished to emphasize is that pointless bickering between the two "sides" does nothing, we can't wait for the "other" side to change before we start being decent human beings. I believe that is what the Anonymous Coward #25619735 meant; though in a slightly less inflammatory tone.

I think you're missing the GP's point. Turning the other cheek, and actively loving those that despise you has more effect then you may think on those you mention that try to restrict others agency. Calling them names and embittering relations only increases the void between the two camps; no side has been entirely innocent, both have at one time or another been the persecuted or the persecutors.
