More importantly, his cause isn't noble. It's not just stupid and naive, it's evil. Our military is a good thing. Not just useful and practical, but morally commendable. It's a good and right thing that we have a force of people willing to kill people who try to kill us.
Certainly it's misused at times, but it's a good thing at the core. Just like the police force can do bad things at time, but is still, at the core, a necessary and right thing for a nation to have.
This topic is a good barometer for the general quality of the Slashdot readership, which (rumor has it) has been declining. If we ever reach the point where over half the comments are 'audiophiles' defending these impossible-to-hear improvements, we'll know that Slashdot has reached the tipping point, and it will be time for any remaining rational people to leave.
They won't believe you. They believe their ears must be superior to those pseudo-audiophiles. Your post should have ended all discussion, but *sigh* it won't.
We need at least one space story a day to feed your obsessive posting.
Still, though, 'space nutter' will never become a catchphrase, and nobody will ever use it except for you. Sorry; that's a lot of wasted posts you've made. One a day for a few years, I guess.
In my impression, general parlance has always seemed to indicate 'several' as three or more. Maybe we just live in different neck of the woods and usage is regional.
Remember, we're not talking total energy; just the delta in a year. If that is 0.1 degrees per year, that's what would need to fed into the energy/mass equation. Other comments in this thread show how the entire input of the sun on the earth in a year come out to 80 tons. I doubt the increase in heat year over year even makes one ton.
The kids playing videogames tend to be the ones being bullied. If they wanted to make the law more sensible, they should tax athletic equipment to fund an anti-bullying program. Make the ones most responsible pay more.
When I look at my two cartons of classic comic books which are worth about nil, thanks to their reprinting of comics, I realize you can never again look at them as something which could be considered 'investment' ever again
...and that's a good thing.. The popular perception as comics as an investment back in the 90's coincided with a huge decline of the quality of comics. Buy comics if you want to read them, not as a potential investment. Why should they be treated any differently than any other form of book or magazine?
Worked for me last summer. Got into the US from Mexico with just a driver's license. The border guard complained and fussed a bit, but let me through with a warning.
In some very important ways, the Raspberry Pi is more functional than an Apple IPhone 4S.
Which is more functional? A Playstation 3 or a desktop IBM PC from 1998? The PS3 is far more powerful, and can do many tasks that old PC couldn't. But the old PC is a general purpose machine; in a sense, it is nearly infinitely more functional than a deliberately limited single-purpose device.
(Yes, I know you can jailbreak an IPhone. That doesn't change the purpose of the device.)
The issue isn't so clear when you take quality and functionality into account. Good CRTs can have better pictures, and certainly have some capabilities (like resolution switching) that LCDs don't possess.
Our current bill of rights doesn't contain an 'except on a computer' clause, so it is sufficient. Specifically, the clauses about free speech and unreasonable search.
We don't need a new one; we just need to remind our legislators that the bill of rights still exists.
By initiating a discussion about the issue? Sometimes talking about a perceived problem is the correct response.
I expect that the problem recently is mainly caused by the spectacular crash-and-burn that the EU economy is going through, which is even worse than what is happening in the US. When a group is feeling a bit insecure, a common response is to try to elevate yourself by deriding others. The US has done that to other countries during its worst times.
in Florida it is illegal to arrest somebody who has justifiably killed somebody.
I don't believe that. That's nuts.
If you do get arrested and are found not guilty, you can sue the state for costs.
That, however, might be true. And if so, it might not be a bad thing.

Illusory Superiority. It's good to have a name for the condition. A disease that those suffering from desperately want to avoid being cured of.
Somebody who spuriously throws unfounded accusations of racism is just as reprehensible as a racist.

That will result in a child with a bite and a dead dog, and the force of law will be against the dog.
Heh. I'm a supposed sockpuppet, too. Is this Bonch? I guess I'm on his enemies list.
What do you look like? What accent do you have?
Handsome, and sonorous. Why?

Do the math. It doesn't work.

You're not getting fatter, baby... the extra pounds are because you're getting hotter!

After Firefox 13 with silent updates, people won't even be aware if the version number changes
This should be communicated far and wide, so that slashdot users... nay, the WHOLE WORLD... are warned to never upgrade past 12.

Jan 2012 minus Jan 2009 makes three years. How is that not 'Several'?
Do you also dismiss everything Winston Churchill ever wrote because he once called a duchess "ugly" ?
You clearly didn't even understand the criticism you're responding to.

Are you really a counter-agent, trying to make those who oppose Ron Paul look like idiots?

Nobody should ever read anything printed in Fast Company. It's the worst magazine ever published. It lowers reader's IQ faster than Cosmopolitan.
