  1. What!? on If IP Is Property, Where Is the Property Tax? · · Score: 1
I almost can't believe that someone seriously believes this shit. Here's the thing: property does not mean land, necessarily. No one would dispute that my computer is my property. It's mine, I own it. However, I do not pay property tax on it. I may have paid sales tax when I bought it initially, but no government agency is sending me a yearly bill for the right to own my computer.

This is a retarded idea put forth by someone who just doesn't like the idea of IP. If you don't like IP, fine, but don't come up with half-baked schemes that twist the meaning of words.

And Mr. AC, consider this: if you'd slaughtered the thousands of religious leaders who have done no wrong, all that innocent blood would be on your hands... and you'd be no better than you make them out to be.

Anyone who gives a damn about the GNU part of it can presumably easily find out already, without renaming the OS to some really awkward-sounding name.

That does not mean, however, that I (and others) don't have the right to criticize Apple's business strategy/practices if I feel that they're detrimental to consumers.

If I could get away with selling my spit to people for $1000 per drop, no one would approve (except in the "If they're stupid enough to buy it, more power to him" sense). It's no different with Apple. They've adopted an anti-consumer policy, and we have the right to criticize them for it, in addition to choosing not to purchase their product.

Apple wants you to use their products in exactly the way they see fit, when they see fit, if they see fit. And that, I submit, is what's wrong here.
