    2) xp loss on death. You break it you buy it. I don't agree with your assertion that WoW's levelling isn't meaningful, but I REALLY disagree with the quoted statement. XP loss upon death is the single most frustrating mechanic I've ever had to deal with in an MMO, and I'm insanely thankful that Blizzard abolished it. In my opinion, no game should ever use this awful mechanic again. Players should be punished to an extent for making mistakes and being careless, but should NEVER, EVER go backwards in progress.

I don't have that problem at all, at those ranges. Both my 70s (Alliance) went Elwynn-Westfall-Redridge-Duskwood-STV-Tanaris-Un'Goro-WPL/EPL, and then to Outland. I finished one zone up before going to the next, and never had any real problems having to grind until the 50s (occasionally, I'd have to finish up a level, but that was it, nothing real extreme). Now, the 50s, those were hell. I hate WPL and EPL with a passion. The quests are hard, the zones are dreary, there's nothing in general I like about them. If I never see those damn zones again, I'll be very grateful.

Plain wrong! The end result is NOT the same AT ALL! It seems the initial message has been lost in translation, and lots of apologists say: "it's not a big deal". The end result is that the main XBox 360 game, the one that the console is most know for, HALO 3, IS NOT A HD GAME! Yes, that qualifies as not a big deal. Who the hell cares? I don't give a damn that the game runs in one resolution or another, I don't give a damn if Microsoft's marketing department lied to us, I don't give a damn about the game's resolution at all. I bought it, I played it, I had a hell of a lot of fun, and the graphics, despite the fact that they are apparently lower-res than they should be, looked pretty. THAT'S all that matters. Nothing more. Bitching about the resolution as much as people are is nothing more than quibbling over minor details.

Except, as I already pointed out, saying you need a dual-core processor is complete BS. Otherwise you're correct, however, I would argue that if one buys a computer with Vista on it, it's the manufacturer's responsibility to make sure their damn machine can run the OS they install sufficiently well. If you build your own, then it's your responsibility to know what you're getting into (although the people you describe in your post wouldn't dream of building their own). If you're upgrading from XP to Vista, you're not making a smart move no matter what the performance is... why pay the $100 for Vista, when you already have a valid XP license? That's the only case in which I have some sympathy for the end-user, since there really isn't such a thing as a demo of Windows you can install to see how your hardware runs it.

In the end, though, if your computer won't run Vista adequately, it's either your fault, the manufacturer's fault, or you're kinda stupid for blowing money on a not-all-that-useful OS upgrade. I find it hard to fault Microsoft no matter what (although I do wish, now that I've thought about it, that Microsoft would offer demo versions of Windows).

I can't tell if you think we should just ignore the law, but all too often, that's what the people who cry amnesty think, and I feel that they really need to start going about it the proper way.

At any rate, the GP has every right to point out what he sees as a problem, and say, "Hey, we might want to do something about this before everyone uses our resources to surpass us!". Disagree if you will, but there's nothing wrong with being concerned for the future welfare of our country.
