At first I thought this was intended to be funny. For years I've been reading the comment that the reason linux is more secure than windows is due to market share. Malware is directed to the dominant operating systems. If linux had the market share that windows has, then linux would have just a many viruses. What kind of market share does windows phone have?
While I only know 2 people with windows phones, neither is happy. Buggy and no apps is the only way to describe their experience. The whole idea of someone describing software from microsoft as "safe against exploits and malware" is ludicrous. Microsoft does a lot of things really well - unfortunately, none of them are writing safe and secure software.
What if you (or, your wife) were to give birth while employed at this company? Do they get your child? Seriously, I'd find a new job or develop your ideas and go into business for your self. Starting my own business was the best decision I've ever made and I have the best boss I've ever had!
I don't know where you live, but in Arizona, it is NOT legal to drive at 0.001% below the statute limit of 0.08%. Our law also states "impaired to the slightest degree."
Sometimes life can be tough. But if I'm feeling a little battered and see someone on a smoke break - outside in the 120 degree heat of a Phoenix summer, I always feel better. At least I'm smart enough to not pay good money to look stupid, smell bad and destroy my lungs in an effort to enrich a tobacco company that wouldn't urinate on me if I caught fire using their product.
First - I've probably plugged 15 different digital cameras into various flavors of linux. Every one worked. I've never heard of one that didn't work. This leads me to believe that rudy_wayne is truth challenged.
I've plugged three different scanners into several versions of fedora. All three worked without a problem. Again, I believe that rudy_wayne is truth challenged.
Of course, an expert is required to install XP on aunti's computer. XP is far too user unfriendly for a neophyte to install. Linux is so easy to install that her nephew that knows absolutely nothing about computers could install and get linux and the tens of thousands of programs provided free of charge running with out any difficulty.
The lessons learned include - lots of liars post to slashdot and linux is much easier to get running than windows.

"New companies or new software products will only replace existing ones if the new ones are better. " Yeah, like vista!
Obviously, written by someone with extensive knowledge of the software industry.
Yes, he is an idiot.
As is common, someone with an overinflated opinion of their own intelligence believes they have all the answers in a field in which they don't work. If only it were so easy - just let them learn math by texting their friends and listening to their ipods. The hours spent on those devices have created students with the attention span of a gnat. They need less of it, not more.
This is america and everyone is entitled to an uniformed opinion. That fact doesn't require that we provide idiots with a platform from which to bore those around them.
That CEO hasn't been there and done it and his opinion is crap. I'm certified to teach mathematics, computer science and science. I'm not complaining about American schools - I'm in the trenches trying to improve it.
Their market share could possibly increase to 38% - 1 user. That one user being me.
I don't use anything Microsoft except as forced to at my job. And I never use Microsoft for anything I personally care about. If the work is important, it should be done where the security and integrity of the data would be better protected.
When someone informed on the issue calls evolution a fact, they would be referring to the well documented evidence of descent with modification. There is no doubt that evolution has occurred. It's no longer open to question. We have the fossils. We win.
What is a theory is how it happens. While the broad ideas of non-random survival of randomly varying replicators is broadly accepted, many of the details continue to be researched. Whether or not the process is gradual and relatively constant or occurs in fits and starts is an example.
Has anyone made the point that the US now ranks with Turkey in the percentage of citizens who adhere to prescientific, mud hut religion and revelation rather than science as a source of information about, well virtually, everything? The US was once the center of scientific and technical progress in the world. Now - well I guess we are still the leader in production of quality entertainment like American Idol.
I can "imagine what they'll be like later in life, and later when doing real math." I taught high school math and computer science for 6 years. I'm now teaching high school physics. When not teaching, I've been an aerospace engineer and a programmer. Calculators came into common use in the mid-70's (at least that's when I purchased my first calculator). Since then, we have raised a generation of students that use a calculator for simple arithmetic. In my experience, that would be single digit addition and subtraction. Then we introduce graduation tests and no child left behind (i.e., ignore all children and real problems in favor of political rhetoric) and expect high school teachers to fix all of the problems.
I have yet to see any widespread use of technology that did anything but train students to use technology. And none of the students I have seen need to learn how to use technology. They desperately need to learn how to think. How to analyze and evaluate. How to read. I would estimate 15 to 25 percent of my urban high school students read at what I would call a grade school level. And their arithmetic skills are similarly stunted.

One of many, many reasons my small business uses linux.

A careful reading of the Bible reveals that creation occurred on October 23, 4004 BC. Any dates preceding that creation are meaningless.

Because the entertainment industry has the money to purchase any amount of congressmen and any law it wants. And it will.
I wasn't sure I wanted to donate one to get one - but if Microsoft really hates it, it must be worth it.

No - let's not punish them for not being geeks. Let's just punish them for being stupid enough to run windows.
