I got the e-mail -- I was a student there at the time. It wasn't the medical records that were compromised, just the SHIP (student health insurance plan) waiver application data that was stolen. Those waivers included SSNs. It's more of a credit/identity theft issue than a medical record issue -- unless of course identity thieves were using that information for health insurance applications, which is, I guess, a real possibility.
Agreed. Plus, GPS devices should be outlawed -- terrorists could use them to navigate in lieu of maps.
Actually, history books, almanacs, encyclopedias, these all tell terrorists what we care about. Those should be outlawed too. Plus the internet, which allows them to communicate, and possibly phones, the mail system, UPS, FedEx and other courier services.
Then maybe we can finally feel safe!
Silicon Valley Insider notes that the so called savings would kill ad revenue. Lets not forget where most publications make most of their revenue. The real trick here is to make a profitable ad delivery system on portable devices in order to make subsidized delivery of the devices a real possibility.
I'm strapping one on for unlimited battery life. Seriously, though, my iPod should never die when I'm on the treadmill burning energy that's just going to waste...
