    Since there would be no more keyboards, there would be no other place to look at but the screen. Thus, as soon as you'd notice that you're 'typing' your text in the wrong text area, one thought and it's moved to the right place. Don't think of this "brain interface" as a mere replacement of a keyboard. It's a whole new way to interact with a PC, which is removing one unnecessary layer between the machine and its user.

    By the way... I'd like to try visualising some of my thoughts in GIMP or some music program this way... That'd be kinda... Interesting experience, to see how a computer can represent my feelings and thoughts. I can't wait to see these devices in action...

    We're good at X so we'll do X. I wasn't talking about forcing guys from project X to do Y. I know it won't work. But why nobody even cares about Y? Sure there are people who are willing to take care of Y, but $GUY_WITH_LOTS_OF_MONEY is more interested in making more money, or seeing what will come out of X, or is just simply ignoring Y. Well, do you really think that $GUY_WITH_LOTS_OF_MONEY deserves every single of his bloody dollars while people in Africa are dying of hunger each day?

    And the war. Does it cost money to put down all the weapons (except if giving up producing them)? The human race hasn't changed anything for thousands of years. Is there really no other way to "solve" some of our "problems" but with a gun?

    Well, I ain't just saying "stop staring at the sky", but, more like "can you sometimes look at the earth as well?".

    And by the way, I think communism isn't such a bad idea, it's the latest implementation attempt that was so shitty...

    Also, virtually everything that is a subject to copyright is very easy to reproduce/copy. Of course you can own your car, but if your neighbour forges 100% identical one in his garage, you do not sue him for copyright infringement, or do you? Of course if "real" objects could be copyrightable...

    Our civilisation got so far only because the idea was free. What if the ancient guys patented the math? Would you be reading /. now?

    Information wants to be free, this is its nature and nobody'll change that.

    I had to pay a bill for crossing an empty street when the lights were red (250 zloty, about $100), but they didn't cared about the guy who stole my cell phone.

    The police used to control our homes and seek for illegal installations of MS crap, mp3s, etc while they all have pirated windows running on their home computers.

    And now they arrested nine people for providing subtitles, while two streets away five bandits are "politely asking" some guy to give them his cell phone, wallet, all the money he has, and possibly his clothes (yes, clothes, the things he is wearing at the moment on his body).

    Same thing with our politicians. To some people, "politician" in our country means "thief", "asshole", "idiot", or something like that.

    I WANT MY COUNTRY BURNED DOWN.

    YouTube doesn't work anyway for me (stinkin' filthy damn slow GPRS modem, me living in the world's darkest cave 30km from any civilization, avg ping ~1200) but if you have flash&co. set up properly I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. The biggest problem is that some widgets could be hardly visible (well, not visible at all. black app bg + black widget bg + sometimes black text. But I don't mind, I like it this way ^^). It's because the rest of my KDE is "dark bg + green fg" as well :) Also, my font of choice (terminus) does not look perfect when it's in italic.

    Because Konqueror can move the menu bar to the Kicker, like in OS X, and I like that behaviour. Also, afaik links and lynx still suck at displaying pictures?

    I strongly agree.

    BTW IMO any intelligent web designer would do CSS preprocessing on the serverside via PHP, Perl or some other CGI.

    Java, Javascript, Flash are disabled in my browser. Adblock + filtersetg are getting rid of 99% of ads. All CSS styles are overrided by my default one (monospaced font, black bg, darkgreen fg, m4tr1x like ^_^), and I must say the overall experience of using the web is way better. Why? Because everything runs faster.

    Use another browser. Nobody's forcing anyone to choose only between FFx and IE. It could as well be Konqueror, Epiphany, Dillo, Lynx, Links{,2}, Elinks, Safari, Galeon, Camino, K-Meleon, Opera... And if one browser is getting too bloated, just fork it, or use older version, or tweak it, damn, you have *choice*!
