For some of those there is a different between prioritizing enforcement.
The other day when I looked at deportation stats, I saw that criminal illegals were being deported in increasing numbers while non-violent/young kids who have lived here their whole lives were being deported less.
Another one with increasing numbers - people who had been deported before.
Now the NRC is obviously flouting the law but they'll be forced to change their ways.
In other things Obama talked about not raiding medicinal cannabis places if they following state law, he then carried out far more raids than Bush ever did.
As far as the coup goes, by not declaring it he has leverage - by using that money to prevent summary executions and extended military rule, as well as forcing them to allow the Muslim Brotherhood to compete in subsequent elections.
Awesome run down. I'd just add the whole war on women thing with many R. candidates. Most of the comments on that subject were offensive to men and women.
I agree with the first sentence as well. I'm 25 and more and more disillusioned with the Democrats, it just comes down to the Republicans being nuts. The only other candidate I liked was Jon Huntsman Jr., far better Mormon canidate then Romney. He spoke about believing in evolution and letting science guide policy, odd for republicans. He also declared a "Dream Theater Day" in Utah.
And yet I love the never ending posts about how America is the ONLY country which is a threat to liberty. It certainly is pushing at the boundaries of crazy but at least it is still ostensibly legal to download that manual.
FTFY. But republicans (and democrats, but less explicitly) are working hard to "fix" that.
These programs are thrust on us, and we have to really complain for even the slightest hope of the patriot act to not be renewed.
Money is the root of all problems. Best action is to reduce its influence: http://www.wolf-pac.com/
If we stumble we may drag everyone to the ministry of love with us.
True, and a really scary thought.
I'm glad someone got what I was saying. I was surprised to be modded a troll for an exhortation against authoritarianism.
It must be by these Euro fanatics who think the European countries are God's gift to the world and the US is the only threat to liberty. It certainly is a threat, and our immense financial and military power makes it a quite pertinent one.
But these people act like it is the only one. They gawk while ignoring France's own little panoptican.
I agree completely about the money. Absolute power may corrupt absolutely, but so does money.
Even if citizens united is constitutional, it shouldn't be. It is about time to breath life into our living document.
Under UK Law, downloading this could result in a prison sentence.
And yet I love the never ending posts about how America is the ONLY country which is a threat to liberty. It certainly is pushing at the boundaries of crazy but at least it is ostensibly legal to download that manual.
I was reading part of Benjamin Franklin's autobiography and memoirs and two quotes struck me which were written just a few months before the outbreak of the revolutionary war:
"Try on your fetters and if you don't like them, then we can talk."
And
"Either we must all be free, or none of us."
(I may have missed a word, but meaning is exact).
The former the attitude we are faced with. These programs are thrust on us, and we have to really complain for even the slightest hope of the patriot act to not be renewed.
The latter the attitude we must have not only regarding our fellow Americans, but with all of our allies who have traditionally been beacons of liberty. If our allies stumble, we fall. If we stumble we may drag everyone to the ministry of love with us.
It's called a "Threat Narrative". It's why there were no WMDs. There never was even suspicion of WMDs. There was only the need for a Threat Narrative to convince the people to let the armed forces off it's chain.
Vietnam? Threat Narrative. McCarthyism? Threat Narrative.... The Holocaust? Threat Narrative.
Require Evidence before belief -- That's rational. Always disbelieve the Threat Narrative.
Don't Fall For It, not even once.
I'm sorry, but you're implying the holocaust was a sham used to justify our entrance into WW2?
"The researcher behind the study says his results provide the first clear evidence that people actively seek to exploit the many security problems of industrial systems."
Uhhhhhh Stuxnet was an exploit of Siemen's industrial control systems which regulated the RPMs of centrifuges....
More like art predicts life, the technological innovations mentioned in f451 are things you put in your ears to speak wirelessly and giant wall screens with frivolous entertainment.
Huxley got the frivolity of life down, contemporary life seems more and more a combination of 1984 and A Brave New World.
I like to think that would be true, but honestly about 50% of the things I click on in a Google search are Wikipedia articles, even when I didn't initially search Wikipedia directly.
I feel the same. Google's search is better, and it could be when searching about, say, wagon wheels, there is a more definitive site than wikipedia.
Current legal precedent says that if an email message has been on the server for over 6 months they can consider it abandoned property and therefor has no privacy protection. This does not mean that you haven't accessed your account for 6 months. It means only that you left the email in question on the server. Back in POP3 days there might have been an argument for "It's abandoned" but in this day of IMAP and hosted Exchange it is pretty stupid.
This points out the stupidity of many of our laws in this day of rapid technological change.
It isn't stupid, it's by design. You think anyone is going to want to limit the trove of data which protects us from the ter`ists.
Arming them may backfire, but legitimate governments cease being legitimate when they shoot peaceful protesters in the streets. 2.4 years ago there was no armed insurrection, just the poor and disenfranchised looking for change, and not the type you put in your pockets.
The legitimate government you speak of showed them the glint of light from their bayonets and the muzzle flash from their soviet built arms. You wouldn't happen to be employed by the same jolly bunch of guys?
So he laundered 7 million in kickbacks from steering $240 million in business, not a $240 million dollar money laundering scheme. Too bad he's not HSBC, the only government authorized money launderer.
we have Media Matters Action Network, NBC, NPR, the Washington Post, the AP, and the New York Times for this.
It's like people have forgotten what a real state run press is like. This is not insightful just one of the obligatory cynical remarks which abound here. Besides, several of the places you posted have extensive critical commentaries about recent revelations.
Instead of having it on thecloud exclusively, why not use a local PC as a local cache and sync back to the cloud when needed? The downside is you need to make your system more robust, since people can obviously hack on the local PC data.
But if the data is really all prerendered stuff, then why not?
Simple:
If they don't have a local PC, then use the cloud. If they have a local PC, then use that as the primary tier and sync back to the cloud. If they need access to that data from another location, tunnel to the local PC if required.
You have to design around sync problems (what happens if the PC is off and the game starts, then the PC gets turned on, etc.). That's a pain to develop, but it'll also be better for the user.
I was thinking about this too, but came to the conclusion that it won't happen. When you start sending information out of the MS closed system it I would think manipulation of the data would become a major problem.
Though, it would be awesome. How about a little GPU upgrade box you can stick a nice card in and connect to your Xbox with a custom bus?
Just saying: If I fully believed in the Illuminati conspiracy theory, then I would never, ever post about it on Facebook. I'd be very, very quiet, and if I was an ex-marine, I would prepare for action and then act. But why on earth would I post on Facebook, where the whole world including Illuminati can read it and make sure they get rid of me?
That's because you're sane and rational. Someone believing the Illuminati conspiracy probably isn't that clear headed at all.
I know, it's quite bullshit.
Everyone knows the world is controlled by lizard people. How else do you explain Nixon and Thatcher?
It looks like decent hardware. I hate to see the losses to HTC because Facebook's platform isn't ready. How about this: sell the hardware with stock Android. Make it a nexus phone.
Is the case is branded with the Facebook logo? that would seem a good way to cut losses,
Put them on kickstarter, call them a new way of thinking about pocket sized touchscreens, and sell them blank. Mention that it could run android as well and has cellular connectivity, bet it raises a few million.

All aboard the FUD express!

Won't happen. Then all the private corporations running prisons won't get money.
They're trying to build a prison for you and me to live in.

If so, you're a moron on several levels.
"The researcher behind the study says his results provide the first clear evidence that people actively seek to exploit the many security problems of industrial systems."
Uhhhhhh Stuxnet was an exploit of Siemen's industrial control systems which regulated the RPMs of centrifuges....
The shocking statistic I saw which shows the miserable demand is that Apple could have matched those figures if they sold ipads for $15.
That's a good one too. Life imitates art.
More like art predicts life, the technological innovations mentioned in f451 are things you put in your ears to speak wirelessly and giant wall screens with frivolous entertainment.

If terrorist kill people it effects interstate commerce, therefore Commerce Clause!
I joke, but seeing that this (the commerce clause) is an oft abused set of words, it's possible.

"White nice and fluffy" refers to kittens.white
You still don't get it....
Why do they have to be white kittens?
Racist
it ain't broke.... don't spend 1/10th of $1,000,000,000 to fix it.

I know all three of you were really excited, but now you'll just have to go back to your Microsoft phones..
Can't prejudice such as this get Apple's case thrown out?
