  3. Re:blaming the quality of the music... on Interesting Admissions From Record Industry · · Score: 1

I very much doubt that, people who make good music generally enjoy making good music, generally, they do it as something they love. I think its far more likely that the reason the quality is declining is because now it's easy for crap music to sell, so now that even bad music can get released, there's less space for the good music.

One, relatively strong Monopoly (Microsoft) gets screwed in a small town by another absolute monopoly. Think about it, they are the only ISP, so they are a monopoly and they are using that to damage a company in a completely separate market. Anyone who makes out that this is good is completely wrong, just because someone isn't Microsoft doesn't mean its a good thing that they screw over the consumers.

The issue is not that guilty people get sued. The issue is that the way the RIAA gets evidence is immoral and probably illegal (invading people#s computers, entrapment etc.) then of course the fact that many people get sued for copyright breach that never happened. And finally, the fact that they aren't sueing someone who stole one mp3 for $1, they're suing for hundreds of times the value of the mp3. There are more reasons than that, but the fact is we side against the RIAA not because of what it does, but rather how and to some extend why, they do it.

  9. Re:Wow, That Was Fast on Sony Runs Out of 60GB PS3s · · Score: 1

How can you be so rose tinted about these games being released. Firstly the reason sony has run out of stocks now is because they've known how badly the console was selling and that there was not much demand. Secondlly for a game to be game of the year, you kinda have to wait till the end of the year, frankly if halo 3 comes out, that claim could very very easily be gone. Then of course you are listing games about to come out, and that about sums it up, 1 year after sony has finished it's console they're starting to release some good games. Finally, assuming 110 million consumers are going to buy the new console just because they bought the previous product is absolute crap, yes, maybe after 7 years (that's how long the PS2 has been out) maybe THEN sony will have near that number of customers, but last generation there was much less competition so its unlikely.

Most likely they just saw it on youtube and didn't think, and just used it assuming it was free for all because it was on youtube and used it in the show. Then, completely different section of the company found the posting of the show that included your clip on youtube, and got it taken down. Its pretty well know that companise aren't known for joined up thinking. If I were in that position I'd contact them,a sking if you can post it, and if you can't, sue their asses off for copyright violation.

  13. Really? on Sexuality And The Sims · · Score: 2, Insightful

It sounds like they expect EA to sue these users using it commercially, frankly, a good company that knows what its doing puts in that clause to cover itself, but wouldn't even consider suing its users. Unfortunately more recently its become the norm to be scared of being sued by the people you buy your software from. EA understands how to build a community, and lets face it, the sms has a pretty obvious appeal as a community game, EA starting to sue the odd site that makes a profit on these things would more damage than good because there's always trouble drawing the line at who you should sue.

  23. Arggg! on Storm Botnet Is Behind Two New Attacks · · Score: 4, Insightful

I hate these comments "Damn Microsoft and their inferior security". That's BS, the reason Windows gets hacked is because there are so many more MS machines than any other type of machine. Botnets are there to make money, the more machines they infect the more spam they produce, the more money tehy make. If you want to infect machines, you go for Windows because it has by far the most market share, so it returns the biggest profit. So all the people hacking machines aim at Windows, and multi-million dollar businesses solely aimed at hacking Windows, if any other operating system had that much focus given to it, it would collapse in days, so stop with all the shit about MS having bad security, they do quite a good job in the absolute worst circumstances and as a result only the stupid users get infections.

Okay, I get that they remove the pixels with least energy, so the unimportant information is lost when shrinking, it kinda works, looks a bit strange, but it's okay. however, when they make an image larger they also add the least information so you end up with a large image- but the useful information is the same size and the extra/useless low energy or background gets duplicated- to me, I think thats kinda pointless, I mean, you're adding stuff you've analysed and found NOT to be the focus of the picture. This may work for pictures with no obvious background, but lanscapes like one of the examples, have such an obvious background that only that gets enlarged and just gives you more background. You may aswell just add a nice blue frame round the edge of the picture to make it fit.
