    I agree that the media Should have covered this. But failing that, why not escalate the case yourself, by hiring a lawyer to send a letter to the school: "You have 7 days to lift the block, or the case goes to court."
    Note: I am not a {lawyer,American,person who read the wall of text}

    As I read it, the problem is that Google started by offering their API for free. Then when all the competitors had fled the battlefield, they raised prices. The effect of this is that it's no longer the best product that wins, but the company with the deepest pockets.

    But the analogy doesn't need to be that strong. The important thing is that if you buy a preowned X, you are putting money into the X-market, because the previous owner can now afford a new X.

    And yes, games are different, but cars are too. All games, however, serve the purpose of me "wasting" my time on them. As long as it's a genre I like, it doesn't matter too much if I'm playing Civ V or Civ II. Just as it doesn't matter if I drive a new Merc or an old Toyota. As long as I get to my destination.

    You are implying that businessmen and "professionals" are all adept at electronics. And conversely that if you are not an expert in IT, then you must be living in a trailer park, collecting unemployment.

    And yes, a tablet has some severe restrictions. But the things it can do, it does with a lot more ease.

    And this is exactly the attitude that landed MS on last place on the mobile market. Calling its potential users morons and retards for wanting a sloppy dumbed-down UI, when in reality they were just average users who wanted a simple interface.
    It doesn't matter when WinCE was around when it didn't deliver what people wanted.

    they'd have to DPI every UCP packet on the network. Also, DHT is used for other things than BT. But yeah, it's possible.

    the .torrent files are hosted by the peers, instead of on piratebay. When you join the DHT network (by running a bittorrent client), you are assigned a number, based on your IP. In a similar manner, all torrent files are given a number based on a hash of their contents.
    If you are given the number 5 and the next client on the network has the number 9, you must host the torrent files numbered 5-8 (if they exist). You can get those files from the client behind you, as he must have had them before you joined.
    You must also know some of the other clients on the network. This is normally some of those close to you, and some of those furthest away from you (as in, you have the IP for client 505, assuming the network goes to 1000).
    There are of course backup hosts for the files etc, but that's the general idea

    I don't think it hurts DHT more than it hurts Bittorrent in general.
    So if you can use Bittorrent, you can use DHT.

    Reverse engineering code is not really a good solution. The "source" you get lacks comments, variable names and semantics. It takes a whole new skillset to understand such code.

    For the record, I am arguing against the notion that removing copyright law will have no negative effects on GPL-style licensing.

    But without GPL there is also no reason to publish source. You'd have to rely on the hosting capabilities and good heart of whoever is using your code.
