    We do, with our Galaxy Tab 10.1 - sometimes it is really convenient to have the large screen for preview. Actually, more than convenient I would say it is comfortable.

    That's why I wish I had a rar-facing camera on my Nexus 7.

    Likewise, just because Torvalds is burned out and said that RedHat is deepthroating Microsoft, doesn't mean that RedHat isn't deepthroating Microsoft.

    In fact, RedHat has been deepthroating Microsoft for several years already. RedHat decided they want to be Microsoft's bitch completely, with UEFI.

    To add to my sibling comment: the Slate 7 has a rear-facing 3 MP camera. Not fantastic, but much better than 0 MP rear facing camera of my Nexus 7.

    The CPU of the Slate 7 is somewhat comparable to that of the Nexus 7.

    So, while I love my Nexus 7 and think it's still the best value for money you can get (outside the Nexus 10, which is just phenomenal value for money - you get the absolute best tablet on the market at any price), I don't think the Slate 7 is a clear loser in all aspects, to the Nexus 7.

    And I am a proud owner of a Nexus 7, but the camera really isn't anything to write home about.

    This is BS: the great majority of people don't hear any difference between the sound created by a "cheap" DAC or an expensive one.

    Besides, the person who posted this Ask Slashdot has probably used headphones with his tablet and is satisfied with the sound quality, otherwise he/she wouldn't have asked this question in the first place.

    Nature (the journal) had an article about mosquitoes being a species that are not indispensible - i.e. if all mosquitoes were exterminated, things would continue more or less unchanged.

    I would have too. Anyone who thinks it's a good idea to charge ten times the cash and do a quarter of the work deserves to starve. Unions can protect you from a lot of bad things but your own greed, laziness, and stupidity are not among them.

    Nobody deserves to starve. And the only truly greedy people I know of, are all extremely rich, too. No chance they will starve.

    Nothing says "I'm a cunt" more thoroughly than a slashdot poster that feels the need to rebut every single point, even when he/she doesn't have a good argument against all of them. Like, for example "Source?". If you only have such a weak-ass rebuttal, you could just save the keystrokes and electrons, and create a more convincing post. And you wouldn't look like a douche.

What is so complex about this concept: I am sick and tired of Microsoft's monopoly, where they can force me to use an OS I don't want to use. When you buy a new laptop or PC, it comes preinstalled with Windows 8. Sure, for now there are a few companies and models where you can upgrade to Windows 7, but are disappearing, under the irresistible pressure of M$.

    Seconded. I'm sick of Microsoft extremely condescending attitude towards their customers, Microsoft's certainty that whatever crap they cook up, we'll have to like it. With regards to that UI masturbation called Windows 8, we'll "get used to it".

    I don't know that Steam on Linux will change much, but it is a good, hefty step in the right direction.

    Why do so many people here have that attitude? You're being paid to work, you're a professional,

    Some people have that attitude because they don't believe that money should buy EVERYTHING. I should be paid to do my job, not to look a certain way or to wear certain things. Those things go a step too far in my mind. To me it is insulting and degrading that an employer should have such power over his employees. I mean, I'm a really kind, understanding and friendly person, but fuck that!

    Look, I am not judging you for your choices. In fact, I was exactly like you, years ago. What changed? I worked (and am still working) as a scientist and that means poor salary but lots of fun. I also got older and realized that if you don't have fun, life is not much worth living. There's just too little of it to spend it doing something you don't like or in a place you don't like. And for me, working in a company that requires me to wear a suit for the job interview would mean working in a place I wouldn't enjoy. So if the only reason a company won't hire me is because I didn't wear a suit at their shitty job interview, then it's for the best for me.

    Maybe I managed to put my thoughts in a form that is more sensible and understandable.

    If you're applying for a well paid job as a programmer at the sort of company that expects you to wear a suit and tie for an interview, you're probably not exactly a revolutionary class warrior to start with, are you?

    What bullshit is this? Highly talented and/or educated people cannot be revolutionaries? Revolutionaries are typically very highly educated characters.

    The simple truth of the matter is that nerds like to think they're superior to all those boring suit-wearing corporate drones who work for the same company, and the jeans/t-shirt are some sort of geeky badge of difference to show you're not a manager.

    That said, I in particular have witnessed those scumbag corporate psychopaths that like to call themselves "managers", and if by not wearing a suit I won't be mistaken for one, that's fucking great!

    This piece of crap has not one but TWO fans - of course, necessary to remove the huge amount of heat that this monster generates. Those fans are a serious weak point.

    I mean, what the fuck is the point of going all solid-state and then cramming two fucking fans into the tablet?

    Anyway, this tablet is the thickest of all on the market. It's the heaviest also and still has a miserable battery life. Oh, and it runs the quintessential POS OS - Windows 8. This is the tablet for suckers - luckily for Microsoft, every minute one is borne.

    I just cannot stand bullshit. It's a fortuitous coincidence that I don't have to take that much anymore, now that I'm in academia.

    I just cannot fathom going to a job interview in a suit anymore - I couldn't live with me anymore after that. To me it's throwing all my dignity down the wazoo.

    This is one of the reason I despise the industry and the lore that surrounds it: the ostensible "professionalism", the bullshitting, the going to the job interview in suit and tie (what the fuck for, nobody knows), the total lack of colour and creativity, the need to use boilerplate and keywords...

    And the fact that "some of the things on the list" are considered outlandish and not conducive to getting a job. I found humorous every single item on that list, and would considered the candidate to have an advantage, exactly for having a sense of humor, rather than a disadvantage in getting a job.

    In academia, where I work now, things are somewhat similar but not as bad as in the industry, and there's a measure of nuttiness and humor you can get away with.
