If a peice of this sat actually causes damage say to a house, can NASA be held responsible? Can they be sued or have any official preceedings brought against them?
There is a difference between grousing and slander. If you have a grouse with your employer, maybe you should discuss it with your boss. If that doesn't fix the problem and there is some regulation in violation, consider whistleblowing. If you can't get away with printing it in a publication, what makes you think you can get away with it online?
Video games can create a awesome sunset or excellent graphics. just because its electronic doesnt mean the artist/programmer didnt spend as much time on it as a painter. or maybe his code is unqiue and introduces new ideas to the programming code. or invents a new algorythm that is terribly efficient for what it does.people see beauty in different things and different forms. if you try hard at perfecting something, most anything can become an art.
I thought all of that stuff was supposed to be encrypted and have access controls on it? or am I thinking of something else? I give it two weeks tops before they're in a lawsuit. pity we have to put up with this stuff as it is.
I made a plexiglass case too once. but when the computer was near a strong frequency source (radio station or cell phone tower) it would repeatedly reboot. watch out! a grounded metal screen (like qire window screen) wrapped around the outside of the case might help if you find yourself having these problems
Remember it only takes one computer connected to the internet and this new GOVNET to compromise it. Above that, there are other ways to compromise networks not connected to the internet. If Joe B. works in a corperation with a totally isolated internal network and takes his work home, say on a floppy, it is possible although improbable that someone could break into his home system and put undesireable programs or data on that disk that can affect the isolated corperate network when he goes to use it. I learned about this in the wee days of linux when we held a linux workshop.
This is going to help the industry alot. Right now there is pleanty of unused fiber, but the problem is the devices that use the fiber take too much room. if we build them smaller and faster we can increase capacity easily.
I fin d some of their cartoons like cow and chicken along with even i am weasel to be somewhat perverse and in bad taste. the anime on the other hand is tons better. and even the smaller kids which i am around tend to agree. they can get into the storyline just as much as adults.
I help admin a small dorm network for a dominate computer and electrical engineering college. occasionally we have to take the dorm network offline for reboots, or firewall/routing changes. everytime i issue the command to take the interface down i can hear screaming inside my head. sorta like in starwars when the deathstar blows up that planet. the princess says she hear a thousands screams and then silence. thats exactly what it feels like:D
Look for hamfests in the maryland area. While they have alot of ham radio equipment and other electronic goodies, they usually also have plenty of computer parts there too. I've been tempted several times to go buy a sun system for $20. but $20 is alot to us poor college students. Yuo usually have to pay $5 to get into the show, but its not a computer show and sale.
He got that name from his dog, of whom he "has fond memories of." If anything else it will at least bring back that snappy theme music. Maybe they should do one for computers. Its the l33t thing to do these days. Indi against the hoolywood style crackers finding clues to anctiant ruins via an anonymous emailer.
In addition i met an old friend who found her name in my journal while doing a web search. we had lost contact after high school. too bad shes dating now;P
You still havent brought up the point that there is copy protection built into the signal coming into your home. These signals also have the tags that indicate to the TV and recorders whether they are allowed to record the show or not.
Granted, these "no record" bits might only be set on pay-per-view movies and the like, but i just bet many stations may not allow copying for many years. maybe then they will back down. This almost stinks like CPRM. they will certainly have a pay-per-play built in. Sure you can record the movie/show, but your automatically billed each time you watch it, or if you record it for a later viewing you are billied for missing it and recording. having that said it could also be setup that you may only view the recording once.
Hollywood thinks that this protect will help rid themselves of pirates and force people to pay money for content. If pirates HAD the money to go out and buy the merchandise, they probably would. Isn't hollywood then shooting itself in the foot since its trying to make people pay for what they cannot afford? Since when has hollywood been allowed to design our computers? I beleive that if any producers actually used the technology they are about to impose they would quickly withdraw. How does this new standard benefit the consumer and why did the organizations even consider making this standar? I guess what I'm trying to get at is, you can't ring any money out of people that don't have any, so why bother?
I have an old acer laptop that looks for a fat16 partition to store its suspend information on. once that partition was destroyed and ext2 linux filesystem used the laptop seemed like it would not boot. However, after leaving the laptop on for 15-30 minutes, the bios would display a warning that it could not find a suitable drive to store suspend information and then start booting linux.
with all these big companies fighting against the people and one another is it possible this will eventually cause them to rip apart? hopefully they will be so busy fighting themselves they will leave us alone
maybe pushs should be pushes open source?
