  1. clients on MBONE for Software Distribution? · · Score: 1
i dont know the exact specs for mbone, but it seems with people so anxious to get redhat that no one would have the bandwidth to accomidate this thus slowing everyone down still. maybe if it were broadcast from the main redhat site, to a few satellite sites and then be picked up by the vicious crowd as it was "broadcast." just like a radio station. and then have the satellite stations do reruns of the broadcast.

Have you considered dropping the case? Sure DVD's can still be copied, and they can be put on a nice CD in DIVX format. But even it it were legal, is it worth fighting over as people will continue copying DVDs anyway? Like MP3, you can tell us its illegal, but it hasn't stopped anyone.

My younger brother is handicapped and we regulary goto shows where they show my technology for the handicapped. There was a camera that would track the motion of the eye and calculate where you were looking at the screen and it would move the mouse. This was just last year and i'm sure it has been refined. I tried it and it takes a tad of practice, but i was playing pong with it. It just uses a camera zoomed close up to the eye.

Chine's internet is the most locked down internet ive ever seen in my life! This move makes Japan start their journey on this path. I'm not sure who will be second most locked down, but i beleive its either Japan or the US. It will be the US if this stinky deCSS situtation goes to pot. the RIAA has been seeking to outlaw linking to deCSS. this is a small step in the direction that Japan has just taken.

  14. IP Space Increase on Vint Cerf On Broadband, Wireless, IPV6 And More · · Score: 1
Ive been pretty interested watching IPv6 talk come about, but im somewhat confused by what ive seen. i would have thought the easiest and most backword compadable upgrade would to go from 255.255.255.255 to 64 bit 512.512.512.512 but ive seen mostly hex used in the docs that ive read. most of it was dealing with tieing ipv4 system in with ipv6 in routing tables and such. i also talked with someone who said it used a 6 place address space *.*.*.*.*.*

not sure which is right, but i think it makes more sense to keep the 4 place address and use 16 bits per segment. this would allow for compadibility with older programs that arent being maintained.
