Without sounding like an aplogist, for bloggists , it's one of those terms that is short for web log. The problem is that there is an increase in it's use as a marketing mechanism , so it's lost the web log element
Why is morality a universal set of binding principles? You make it sound as if everyone gets a morality injection when they are born, and the few who don't become the misfits. Ultimately, morality is an intense personal trajectory through the wilderness and finally to some vague understanding , as to why or why not you have acted in a certain way.
Not to mention, having the confidence to impose certain principles , such as freezing specs once the job is underway and making sure the client thinks in terms of versions.
we're dealing with an international economy. The capitalist ethos crosses borders, and there is a lot of collusion between people from different countries . It's not the Americans or the Chinese or the Russians. It's pervasive
Exactly, that is the problem, there is this assumption that if you are not from the Elite of society , which is tied in with economic power, than you do not satisfy the criteria for being trained in these skills.
What I find baffling, is that when you decide to progress in your job, ultimately you have to bring into play some of this lateral thinking. Often , people will use very woolly thinking to analyse a situation , where some clear thinking could precipitate a positive response.
I think one of the bigger problems with this software games approach is that it could stray into visual education which could then morph into just showing you things as opposed to telling you things work
I agree with you on one level i.e it is essential that numeracy/literacy skills are mastered as quick as possible. But I would also , place on the same par - thinking/reasoning/creativity skills. These are all essential and one tapped into are powerful tools for communication.
We could take this idea one step further and look at customisation on the fly. This , to some extent is possible with information based products. i.e software that can reconfigure information according to the requirements of the user.
This is slightly more difficult with hardware. Although , you've outlined a good example,Dell, who have componentized the supply chain process - to the extent where they have little , if any inventory.
Ideally , error management systems would track & isolate errors, therefore making that side of things easier. More time should be taken to outline proper design. But then again, we are in the world of rapid development & ready made components, which gives management the idea that everything should just slot together
The danager with keyword matching , which is what these systems are based on , is the contextual aspect. Yes, someone has typed in a particular site , but what did they do on it and also where they the ones on it?
That's a fascinating point. The key is the responsiveness according to the current whimsy of the consumer . How quickly can an organisation react to a percieved change in demand. Are the current data warehousing techniques sufficient ?
The only one I've used is "Learning c#" Jesse Liberty . Which is useful to reference. But in reality, if you know OO , then as soon as you get on top of the syntax, the best thing to do is write code.
Is Google intentionally allowing this to happen or is it the sheer task of indexing billions of pages which creates this problem. If I search for something very specific , like a system error code, then usuall the results are very good. If on the other hand , I search for something that has many associations , like Bill gates , then really you need a more controlled search. Which is, of course where Yahoo originally were very good , with the controlled search
I agree, the results are extremenly obvious, apart from the fact they've been documented plenty of times before. You only have to spend 20 minutes reading an SEO handbook to glean this basic info.
Depending the software / user interface complexity this is not necessarily a straight forward procedure. You have to set expectations properly from the outset i.e if you are going to create mockups and then build the software , you will have to communicate this to your boss. The job will take so many days.
I completely agree . Get the output to the page and let designers do the CSS -images etc.
Also , gives you a lot more control over positioning, debugging etc
There is also the issue of quality control. Some of the bigger propietart systems have got amazing levels of quality control versus MySQL
It's probably a method to attract more talent.

isn't the idea of morality different to what is considered to be good or bad at a given point?
Very ambivalent , i.e the difference between a pure doorway page and an "apparent" information page with advertisements , all over it

maybe even sending the information back to the garage that will automatically analyse the data and send you warnings

It's the same old story, told in a new way

..and also reword the proposal and claim it was mine!
An inability to think clearly under pressure and to many action hero movies , make people do studpid things

Do contracting while you set this up , otherwise debt management could be an issue
