  1. I'm sure they did their due diligence, but from what Ive seen the last couple years Canada seems to be heavily influenced by US politicians, lobbyist, etc.. And I would not be surprised to hear of a joint task force as in" go ahead eh" taking down the servers for from the US privacy destruction machine. Just my tinfoil hat 2 cents.

    Here's the deal.. I agree with the concept, principle, and methodology here. Overall I think it is a great idea. Problem is that the govt is hand over fist into the higher education market. Student loans which are conveniently not unloadable by bankruptcy have reached almost a trillion dollars of unforgiveable, never ending debt, and just a year or so ago the entire financing program was completely taken over by the govt. This kind of money does not simply walk out of Mordor.

    A few months ago I was looking for a browser that wouldnt be a Google/MS report factory. I thought it was Opera too... but if you look at help, about Opera.. you will see this..

    The issue is that they take traits that certain plants would never be able to acquire and splice them in with no idea about the long term effects on the environment or ecosystem. Selectively picking the reddest roses is not what they are doing. It is more like bolting frog legs on watermelons.

    This would be great. It would create a niche market for items without the "may include.." label which would eventually cause the big guys to come up with the gmo free products that people want.

    Im no stock genius..far from it.. but to me (puts straw in corner of mouth and starts to chew) seems like a big game of duck duck goose when you produce no tangible, as in I can touch it, product. So I buy it, you buy it, he buys it, she buys it and last one to sell.. well.. theres your goose.

    As far as FB goes.. I have to say Im surprised theres not more ducks lining up to play the game, but then again, the CDO's pretty much knee-capped all the big money and I suspect they are still licking their wounds.. (spits out straw)

    I agree whole heartedly and raise you this.. it is not only the hocking of goods, it is a psychological assault. Minds are bent towards the materialism of the day and in subliminal ways towards sociological norms they wish to impart on the masses through peer pressure and sheer repetition.

    I find it no coincidence that every mainstream sheeple has gps in their pocket and are almost all connected to communication behemoths in some govt pocket. Can You Hear Me Now?

    Look.. if you give me free content, pay for it with advertising. If I pay you for content..or like Dish does, then cram your advertising..k?

    I am old enough to remember when cable was new and shiny. At first I was..wow! Great! I pay you and I get to see shows without commercials right? Bzzzt.. no.. I get to pay you AND see commercials..how silly of me.

    Personally, I would rather pay and watch 98% pure crap than "prime" content with 3-4-5 minutes of ads blaring every 10 minutes. For me..yes..I would pay for you to just go away.

    I had a client who was (still is) an auctioneer. Not a real techy type, didnt need to be. They had a DOS based software that served them well. For over 7000 regular customers and years of auctions. No, not online, just something to keep track of items, bids, and clients. Its all they needed. It fit perfectly into their business, all the not techy people used it..past win 3.1, past win95, 98, even up to XP when their hardware started to fail and then they couldnt find the hardware to support the software any more. They ended up paying for new PC's, new software and new networking not because it didnt do what they needed..or even wanted, but because they simply couldnt run it any more. They were sad to see it go. Newer is not always better. Often (like MS Office) its just about making sure you keep paying.

What little influence we have as voters is nullified by this side-stepping of congress and our system of government, however flawed it may be.

    Call me Luddite, call me an old fogey, hell, call me Aunt Mable and dress me up in a nice billowy dress. What has happened here is we have a generation of internet crack babies. We all know there is no chance in hell that everything we do on the internet, and on our nifty phones is not databased for sale and control of us. The issue is that we (as a group) simply can not put down the crack pipe. We wont. We dont care if you strip us down and shove a data tracker striaght up our ass, just give me more internet. And dont bogart the bandwidth. The answer is to abstain. The reality is we are way too far down this addiction to stop.

    I ran a 2-phone line BBS over 15 years ago before the internet was publicly available. The software was called Powerboard.. neat little system with a funky little programming language. It was where I cut my teeth on networking, programming, building PC's and basically made me take the path I took in tech.

    I dont remember the specific date, but I remember watching her log in the first time (back then you could watch as they wandered around and typed..)..

    So I clicked the source link which then had a US map with FOI requests sent to different states. I clicky Mssouri (I live there) and there is a request from Green Co.. not where I live.. but in the ball park.. then I click the response from the Sherrif's legal counsel which said..for each question..around 10 or so.. we dont keep those records and have no way to know or search for this info.

    At the end they said.. if you have a certain time frame or case you'd like us to look into.. send us a request or give us a call.

    Appears that as long as you dont keep track of it.. theres nothing to report on a FOI request... Sounds about right lately.

    I just wanted to throw out a decent rotation system I used for making backups when I had some pretty important data to keep track of.. it works with 11 sets and goes like this.. you get 11 sets of whatever..tapes, drives, thumbs..your media... you label them mon, tue, wed, thu, fri1, fri2, fri3, month1, month2, month3, month4 (we didnt do weekends.) The rotation is pretty obvious..and allows you to go back any day this week, any friday of the month and any month for 4 months. We did this so we could roll back far enough to be sure if we started copying corrupt files or whatever we could have a good clean point to recover from. You can of course add sat and sun and plop months on the end for longer times.. but we never needed to roll back farther than 4 months.

    3. Profit!

    Every time Google changes the search algorithms and shuffles results, the SEO people make money. As long as there is an automated function directing sales traffic, the game will remain the same.

    Make up a bunch of cards with servers names, routers, etc.. all the infrastructure pieces.. then hand them out randomly as people come in..once everyone is in.. make them recreate the system.. maybe get some string for wires.. make it physical, involve the participants and it wont be boring..

    Thats what I did once I figured out what was going on. I had a php event calendar and Im pretty sure the bot took it from unix day zero through whatever the upper time limit is. It ended up being about 2 gigs per visit.

    Try using a calendar which has next month and year links (along with every day therein) and doesnt know googlebot is coming.....gigs. seriously.
