    I am surprised how many people still get this wrong. Since they are the copyright holders of the work they can do whatever they want with it, period. As a copyright holder you don't license the software to yourself. That would be stupid.

    This won't work properly in the Netherlands, because most traffic lights respond to traffic using induction loops in the road. If you add a system that directs traffic responding to the way the lights work, you'll have a loop and my guess is you'll get oscillations.

    It isn't about the overall distance, but about the distance traveled on busy roads, which you can't measure with the odometer and you can't rely on cell phones, because ppl will just switch them of or use prepaid.

    The 'car use tax system' is proposed to reduce traffic jams, not to save the environment. The latter is just added to the mix in order to gain politically. For saving the environment, just raising gas prices is a lot easier.

    Thanks for putting my feeling to words. However, I must admit that this feeling is somewhat hypocritical. I mean, just taking pity on an animal because you happen to like it. Pigs for example are equally smart and adorable (although less handsome) as dogs, yet we put them in small cages and butcher them by the millions. This one dog being cloned and maybe not even having a particularly bad life is bliss by comparison.

    I am not really surprised the Palestinians don't believe in freedom of speech. 60 years of oppression by neighbors tends to do that to a people. This tiny little fact is always conveniently omitted in statements like these.

    That wouldn't have been a problem, since that is what BSD'ed code is for. The other way around (bsd ppl 'stealing' linux gpl'ed code) is a problem, so my guess is that was what happened and that is also the way I remember it.
