I'd love to see the RIAA face their own music. That alone should be suitable punishment for the stuff that they've tried to inflict on the general public.:)
Why the answer is obvious, it will be LSM, the Lunar System for Mobiles. Which, obviously, for the sake of simplicity will be completely incompatible with any earth based standard currently in use, or planned.
Several of my friends from work have the ability and option to telecommute. Unfortunately, due to the nature of my job it is not possible. I have to be in the office for when I'm needed to be there. I work in one of several smaller locations that has just myself and another person in each building. Those that can telecommute have their offices in the "corporate mega tower" in downtown and it doesn't really matter where they are.
Usually when I go they greet me by name, they clear off my table, occasionally move the other customers to a different table and sit a pint down in front of me.
I can see a problem where something is done that's legal in one country (and that country's module) but not legal in another country. That would be a nightmare for the diplomats & lawmakers.
I don't use the company computer to read/. or check my email. That's what I bring in my personal laptop for.:P I also don't hook it up to the corporate network but to a spare ADSL link via Wi-Fi.
Ya it's a way bigger breach of the company policy but the company network is no less safe than people taking their work laptops home.
It's interesting to see that th FCC is taking the stance that they are with this one. They're pushing ahead w/ the BPL approvals despite the known and measured interference that the ARRL has presented to them. (They've shown that it's not just the hams that are effected too.) Yet they are concerned about interference on a new system before it's even tested because of the possibility of interference.
It's sounding like the power companies using BPL and media companies may have purchased a few FCC employees to look after their corporate interests.
Installing Linux is easier and there's lots of online help. LUGs also have the use for a social community and can let people meet face to face and discuss things. I find that real life is a much higher data rate and can save me hours of time online.
It also never hurts to brush up on inter-personal skills at the same time.
Uhm actually, no. A rough look at the speeds show it to be around OC-768 instead. I'm also not sure if this system is sonet based or 40Gb Ethernet (4x10Gb perhaps?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_Carrier
Hey, I like rotary dial phones and I recently installed one in the kitchen of my house. Then again, I'm also a relic of the telecommunications industry.
The International Herald Tribune http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/05/01/news/magazi ne.phparticle about it makes a good comment.
Business 2.0 has drawn attention for skewering firms, including, occasionally, other magazines, in its annual list of the "101 Dumbest Moments in Business."
I wonder if will include itself in the upcoming one?
They should also have remembered the old saying "There are two types of computer users, those who have lost data and those who are about to..."
Considering all my loonies get thrown to the strippers as tips, (to them not at them:) ) all they would be able to do is track which dancers I've seen recently. So government agencies would therefore have no idea that I go to the peelers.
I think there's something a bit flawed in that logic.
I find it interesting how several people have commented, and continue to do so, that flying is their right. Believe it or not you do NOT have a right to ride from point A to point B in an aircraft. The aircraft is private property run by a private company, and as such can refuse business to any individual they wish for any reason they wish.
It's similar to someone claiming that they have the right to eat in a restaurant when they're causing a ruckus. You don't have the right to eat there, you're always welcome to go home and cook.
If you have a problem w/ the service then you are allowed to file a complaint. There's regulations & legislations regarding minimum standards of service for the safety of the general public.
Want to drive a car w/o ID? you're more than welcome to make the attempt. However driving a motor vehicle is not a right and there's rather clear legislation that states that your license must be shown on the request of a peace officer.
I find this rather surprising. Who do they have playing Gant? Are they going to make the MiG-31 look different in the special effects? Will it be better than the original movie? http://imdb.com/title/tt0083943/
Honestly I've been thinking of switching for a few years now, even before I bought my iPod. I'm runing linux on several machines and XP on some more but I do like the idea of a vendor supported unix for a home environment w/ mainstream apps that won't break the bank. Moving everything to 1 OS also sounds like a nice idea. Admittedly though I was looking at a NeXT cube over 10 years ago for similar reasons.
It wouldn't surprise me if that site was hosted off that lunchbox pc. We/.ers have a tendancy to eat servers for breakfast or in this case maybe lunch:)

GSM or CDMA?
(I had to ask)

I don't know of another group so aptly named.
Since pro- is the opposite of con-
It shows so well that the opposite of progress is congress.

We all know the real reason here. It's all those perpendicular bits on the dance floor getting drunk and falling down.

They were all fairly calm when this footage was shot but the wildness ensued soon after.

In Soviet Internet, data pipes you?
Isn't that what most of the spam that gets sent out about?
They have already proven they can handle themselves with difficult governments.

Now Google Utah edition.
I can imagine a bad idea for those games. Dance Dance Revolution!
OOPS.

Oh, nevermind.
I'm sorry Microsoft but, Santa, has had prior art on this one for years.
