OK, now count the number of dirty comments about muslims and Allah.

Tehn count the number of comments that are "pro-Islam"(that meaning, of course, that they say that not all muslims are riotous and violent)

Now notice, other than the fact that the vast majority, if not all, of "pro-Islam" comments are in response to people generalizing about how all muslims are violent, that there are far, far more negative comments about Islam.

I was reading about a few things lately, like the coming peak oil and the fact that we do not have enough resource on earth to support the way we live. So I figured, fuck earth. Let's go. Give me your thoughts on the plan. I realize that much of this is contingent upon political impossibilities and scientific possibilities; but I think we need to start somewhere. I also realize that there are parts of the technology herein that may turn out to be unfeasable. That is an inevitability.

Note: this is a rough draft, obviously, and I hope that others more knowledgable than me can make corrections where applicable.

Let us compare. US activity gives off 18-24 million short tons, volcanic activity 145-255 million short tons, of CO2 each year.

How much can we affect climate change if our entire CO2 emission is 1 percent of that of a single natural source of CO2?

Wow, you really, really flubbed this arguement, 18-24 is ~10% of 145-255. And that is just the US and territories, only about a quarter of the worlds CO2 comes from the US.

So, um, to cover a couple of other points.

Let's say, just for argument, that the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere doubles. Then it makes up 0.07% of the earth's atmospheric gases.

Not going to kill us? Of course not, but there is a good chance it will heavily affect the temperature. I think it was back in the 70s when Carl Sagan predicted that venus would be really hot because of the large amount of co2, he was right.

We know for a fact that CO2 is a prime driver of heat retention, quit trying to pretend like it will not have a big effect.

  17. Re:ID and Creationism are NOT Synonymous on The Politically Incorrect Science Fair · · Score: 1

I'm sick and tired of hearing so called intellectual types summarily dismissing Intelligent Design and Creationism without having any idea of what they are talking about. Belief (not scientific fact) in Intelligent Design is simply the belief that, that which exists is too complex to have occurred by chance alone and that an intelligent creator (God or god depending on ones belief system) created all that exists and existence itself, through an unspecified means.

This is exactly why ID gets so easily dismissed, its adherents continue to insist that it is scientific and not just a belief.

That and the fact that you cannot have a discussion about science with someone who can simply ignore the mounting evidence of a theory by say that it contradicts their belief.

P.S. If ID is only a belief then what practical use does it play? Just makes people feel better?

While you make a lot of good points this is the prime problem. The Chinese government can stop the transfer of money to Google if Google does not comply to the govt's will. They have strict controls over all types of info, not just political.
