    i'm rather suprised that no one has brought up the no copy bit as this is exactly what it would be used for. its a proprietary game console/internet device that downloads games. this is the most obvious use ever for content protection.

    clearly vulnerable to hardware based attack

    unless the sound card has some sort of encryption i would think that any scheme is velnerable to hardware attacks

    somehow i'm not persuaded by this arguement. first, if you want to boycott the mpaa there are 2 ways: 1. dont watch any movie 2. "steal" the movie.

    i have no problems stealing from an industy that has codified fucking over consumers, do you know what industry colusion means, it means you have no fucking choice.

    they may have digital speakers, but until they can figure out how dilliver the content digitally to consumers(read: us) mind, there will always be a way to pirate. and every time they make it sound better it makes it easier to pirate on the analog end.

    Yes the dreamcast may be dying, BUT there is the set top box being released that plays DC games, as well as rumors that xbox will be backwards compatible with DC, so in fact this could be the first xbox port. that'd be interesting.

    um, sorry but you're wrong. there was recently (a few months ago) a test of airport security and they let through "FBI agents" with weapons. it made the news fairly big stuff there.

    no need for the broadband adaptor, you can just use the modem. and most tvs come with the a/v connects that dc uses these days, so it isnt really a bad idea.

    most of the responces to this miss a very important point, every dreamcast has the same exact hardware. that means once one person correctly configs a dreamcast for any use, it is a simple matter of copying those settings, that is why console systems are more reliable, only one hardware configuration.(or 2 if you have a choice between modem and broadband, but the point still stands)
