And yes, the GPU companies had PLENTY of time to write new drivers and test them, they just didnt make very wise use of it.

This is also why the problems have slowed down considerably since the release of Windows 7.
It uses the same driver architecture as Vista for the most part making the creation of Drivers for Win 7 a much less painful process resulting in more stable driver releases.
However, Both ATI and Nvidia still have issues from time to time in their releases.

A quick look at any HTPC forum will show the problems they both tend to have.

no, what's wrong here in the US is that people EXPECT that simply throwing some money at an institution and attending some classes and doing the old pump-and-dump method of test taking is a RIGHT for all those graduating from lower education levels.

Living in a town with a major state university, it is appalling how basically stupid and ignorant of the real world most students at this university are.

The american student has basically been conned into believing that attendance of higher education is mandatory, yet at the same time is basically just a way to postpone entering the working force for a minimum of four years (and more likely 5-6 for that 4 year degree) and continue to act as a child while amassing a huge debt load for which the government is happy to keep taking their interest payments for the next 20 years.

    it's pathetic actually.

Here's a better analogy than yours.

    corporation is making a product.
By employing people in the local community they are creating jobs and allowing people to live off of the wages they make.
The corporation also gives away money every day to help less fortunate people in the community. This is "known" in the community but no specific examples are released.
However, the corporation also occasionally makes a mistake. during some of these mistakes, bad things happen alongside the good (as an example they give money to a homeless man who ends up buying a gun and killing someone with it).

Nothing ever gets "reported" except the mistakes the corporation made (they gave money to a man to buy a gun!), and those are only reported by an "inside the corporation" informant who secretly gives only those negative documents to the leaking "journalist".

the leaking "journalist" makes no attempt to see if the documents are true (no mention that the money given was part of a help the community initiative and this person was one of many to receive money and the only one to use it to kill someone), fake or even partially accurate, and makes no attempt to discover anything else the corporation does.

    yeap
that's a good source for anything all right.

I'd rather pull the straight from high school exceptional student that hasn't spent the last 5-6 years getting their 4 year degree and forgetting how to learn and instead focusing on rote memorization for a set period of time.

i can teach them what i need them to know, and will gladly pay for any training they and I feel they should receive.

And i get more motivated and BETTER employees by going this route.
They aren't deeply in debt and demanding pay not commensurate with their abilities just because some asshat college / university person told them that was the expected salary. They are typically more likely to stay on because they are rewarded with all the training they need to do their jobs, and know that if they desire to move up, the training will be provided and thus do not have to LIE about what they can and cannot do in an interview. And finally they are typically less moronic when it comes to understanding how the real world works as opposed the fantasy land that most colleges/universities seem to think exists and tell them in the "norm".

I actually generally ask one question of every degreed person i interview before the interview ever gets started.
"How many years were you in college and how many credit hours did you take each semester?"
if their degree wasn't completed in the standard time or less, they go right to the bottom of the pile. I'll take my high school trainables over them at that point.
