Reading it only says so much.
I had my first session today, and I must say that I found it less MMO:ish once you actually started playing it.
Sure, some fundamental rules use the same ideas, but, that is in no way an issue when actually playing.
I must say I liked DM:ing it, but it will be a while before I learn the mechanics, they are far less intuitive past a certain level since every power is an exception to the very bare core.
So, a lot more "studying" is necessary than previous editions if you want to learn it all, but there is a shorter span until you can start playing your first game and understand what you are doing.
One of these days I know that I will stop seeing bashers going on about only a single mouse button on apples products.
OSX has as good built-in support for normal mice as windows, and it ships with a mouse which has got two buttons.
The only proucts shipping with single-mouse buttons are their laptops, which all have nice enough work-arounds to not even notice it, at all.
It takes up enormous amounts of space and is very inflexible.
Also, it only works adequately in games where you can change the FOV.
So, 200 bucks extra for projector users with a lot of extra space, you also have wiring problems and loads of other issues.
I could see this working in arcades, but for most home users, it's just a bloody poor solution.
Except, I assume the game will store the CD-key like pretty much every game with a key has ever done.
So, no, this is not an issue.
They are providing a service to those who pay, not punishing them for buying the game, this is exactly how copy protection should work.
Simply because Jacksson would probably try to make this into a serious movie instead of the fairy tale it's supposed to be.
Someone else might succeed.
Seriously, don't even try to compare the states with North Korea.
The states have a lot of indoctrination, however, it comes from a lot of sources, not just the state, making it a very different beast.
Especially not when they are still the least flashy of the three major players in the market.
It's quite fun to go around showing people that my low-power laptop has more 3D-effects than any Vista desktop can muster, and is still very much snappy.
... that free (as in beer) software cuts the number of non-free sales?
This doesn't mean that it costs society, or even the industry any money, just that it's relocalized to other parts.
In most cases, the answer is that there is no ethical issue, but many still wouldn't eat it due to not liking meat.
At least in the vegan forum I moderate.
Incidently, pretty much the only thing I would eat would be Salami.
Ok.
Let's see:
Wireless drivers are provided by clicking "install proprietary drivers" the moment you boot, not sure if this qualifies.
I believe booting two screens gives me a clone, but, i can just go to the same nice and easy GUI configurator and play with my secondary screen.
Hardy Heron is almost as close as OSX actually, meaning, as long as you have the correct hardware, it works very neatly.
Personally, I'm a whiner, and I've never been as happy with my OS as I have been the last few weeks with Hardy Heron, and I switched from OSX.
This truly reminds me of CHICKs view on DnD, it seems like a way to demonize an entire business branch by placing a character within the constraints and making it unreasonably evil.
Seriously, haven't the propaganda people learned that using blatantly stupid characters to destroy something in the end only gives the subject increased exposure which makes people ask and learn about it?
Seems like a really stupid antagonist, unless Tony wins be learning a lesson and start applying the good ideas of his opponent to make his own products stronger.
Actually, since there actually exists no legal precedent yet, we can not know what the law actually says.
If this was some stupid thing like US trying to sue them, well, that wouldn't work here, the US have pushed the prosecuters to act though, which of course is bad enough.
Now it's up to the swedish law system to determine if this is legal or not, and, even if we decide as much, it might go up another level to the EU, which will most probably be much stricter.
You do know that Zsnes does exist in linux, just not in 64 bit?
Crossover already exists. Granted, not freeware, but it does exist.
There was only one member who voted against, actually. A few lay down their votes as well though.
The proposal has been accepted, what was voted for this morning was to postpone it until this evening with somv ery minor changes.

DRM is on the other hand annoying by default. A CD-key is not DRM, it's quite simply a way to not lose bandwidth to non-customers.

The point is the avoid leeches, not to avoid legal shitbags.

FYI, Shrook is a nice RSS-reader where you can sync with their main page. Free software, but you pay some for the syncing.
