I consider myself a very passive/. lover insomuch that I read it religiously but rarely, very rarely, post anything.
But upon reading today's tragic stopy of the Spam King's murder/suicide I feel compelled to write.
I am sure that I am not alone in this crowd when I say that I've done some incredibly stupid things in my life and at many times I have wished for a quick out or an easy solution but what this man has chosen to done is unforgivable!
The supreme cowardice required to run from a prison camp (is there an easier sentence?) but then to murder your spouse, who has chosen to share her life with you, and finally your children who did not ask for life yet had theirs stolen from them by their own father!!!
Absolutely disgusting and this offends me to core of soul!
I just did a math assignment for a graduate class and we had to do it in excel to show that we understood the basics and could technically manage the math that was being learned!
(linear systems solvers - and they are a collosal pain in excel, i can assure you)
Overall I really like OO but I have to admit that I have started to use Office 2007 (pirated of course) on Win XP because of the lack of sufficient/user-friendly equation and formula editting in Word/Writer.
I am working on a graduate degree in math and I really need a good text/doc editting program that will allow me to input formualas/equations/matrices etc with ease!
That's interesting because OO's equation editor is one of my favourite features.
I find the 'command line' entry to be much quicker and more intuitive to use than the button system employed by M$. In general, I prefer using the keyboard over the mouse so this functionality fits me just perfectly!
I didn't RTFA because it won't run on the Windows ME machine I'm using right now! (not kidding!)
Besides the fact that OSS is free and that it simply works... I am strongly drawn to OSS by the sense of community and the inherent support system. Even if ubuntuforums.org doesn't help, I have a ton of other resources where I can get input from other people just like me.
NOT the world's drug capital simply the largest producer of one specific drug, cocaine.
The issue of Microsoft adoption is very serious in South America. So far the only countries who have even considered open source are Brazil and Venezuela. Brazil is motivated by the possibility of the $100 laptop and Venezuela is motivated by political reasons and official hatred of all things American (specifically M$).
Open source has a great future here as soon as we are able to get the message out that there is an alternative to M$. The cost factor and the fact that computer hardware here tends to be older and more expensive to replace mean that this entire part of the world can benefit substantially!
FYI, drug use here is almost non-existant. Not at all like a civilized country like Canada where recreational drug use was common place.
Others probably aren't even aware of anything other than Microsoft and Mac.
I've been so heavily in Linux for long enough that I forget that there are people out there who don't even know there is an alternative.
I currently live in Colombia and there is no open source down here at all. All of the major universities have Software Engineer programs but they are all based on the entire wack of M$ and other closed-source applications.
People are simply stunned when I demonstrate that I can do the exact same thing for no money and often with greater control over either the process or the end result.
Am I the odd man out? Believe me, I am less of a nerd than I want to be but I have been an Ubuntu user for over three years without any major problems. I don't even have a dual boot anymore because I simply expect Ubuntu to do anything I need.
I have used various digital cameras without issue, my wife's ipod and a new printer that I picked up at a big box store.
Whenever I have run into problems I have been able to find solutions or suggestions on the web and I can proudly say that I've even posted a few responses and suggestions of my own now.
In all honesty I can't image ever returning to M$. I'm very happy where I am!!!
I've been having ongoing problems all day trying to access engrade.com - which is hosted by godaddy.com. I initially thought it was an my DNS server's problem (opendns.com) but now that I read this I guess it's godaddy.
Can this really be related to DLS? I live in Colombia now and we don't change our clock ever;)
There HAVE to be ;)
Can you point in the right direction to set this up properly?
There ARE many! Not, there's many.
What if I cut and paste a child's face onto Jenna Jameson's nude body?
Or in order to avoid using a real child .. if i draw a child like face and stick it onto Ron Jeremy's naked body?
Are either of these crimes in the US?
what o/s did you go to?

I'll see your differential equations and raise you one abstract algebra!

LOL
There is no 'u' in Colombia.
Illegal movies and music cds are everywhere here!
You can buy a movie on any corner - even if its just released in theaters for just under $2 USD and music cds for less!!!
I thought it was Canada was to blame the world's black market copied media!!!
