  1. Re:Examples can't get much worse than Zelda on Do Next-Gen Games Have to be 3D? · · Score: 1

I so strongly disagree with this it's not even funny.

While I will grant that OoT was a great game, A Link to the Past is the exact reason why Zelda should NOT have gone 3D. I enjoy OoT, Windwaker, TP, etc. (hated Majora's Mask, but that's a different discussion), but nothing can top the SNES Zelda.

As for why, it's all in the controls. I hate having to line up perfectly and get the just the right angle on the camera to jump from Small Platform A to Small Platform B. I wouldn't mind so much if I had free control of the camera, but using Z to center it isn't always the best option. Some things do work better in 3D, I'll grant that. But overall, I'd take the almost-top-down-perspective of A Link to the Past. It had perfect controls, pretty graphics, and a great storyline. Can't top it.

I'm sorry, but your questions 2-4 are entirely moot. The name of the character played by Cary Elwes in The Princess Bride is, in fact, not Wesley. It is a common misconception, but the name is Westley. Check the credits, or just check on the IMDB.

Nitpicky, but hey, it's a major point in most of your questions. :)

As for puzzles, there's not a whole lot. It revolves more around strategy than "How does this door open?"

  9. Banning Songs?! on At Last And At Length: Lars Speaks · · Score: 1
In this interview Lars says how it would be entirely possible to ban Metallica songs, not users. Personally, I would like to know how he sees this as possible.

Let's think... If they're going to put a restriction on any mp3 that has "metall*" in it, people could just rename the mp3's to "me+allica" or something goofy like that. I realize it's an 31337 example, but it proves the point.

Also, one could not have mp3's of cover bands if they banned song names. Oh, and what about bands that have different songs but the same names? It's not like that doesn't happen.

If Lars thinks it's possible to do (according to what he's been told), let's have them code it and deal with all the problems that ensue.

This is not about Columbine, it just so happens that that was the epitome. This book was meant to show people that bad shit does happen to kids in school. I seriously doubt that the editors would allow posts like, "Go Dylan!" or "Too bad they didn't get more people..." to go into this book.

So I reiterate. It is not a book about Columbine, it's a book about what really occurs in school.
