They may be able to track your position and speed with GPS, but how are they gonna know if you're getting a blow job from a $10 crack whore? You can still use the car in a drive by. It won't even stop you from turning your rental truck into a bomb.
Thank you for bringing up this point and the Papers. It is so rarely brought up in the arguement. In the language that was used by our founding fathers in their documents and speeches at the time it is clear where they stand on God, religion and government.
But if they ever actually do pass this kind of heavy handed, knee jerk, bullshit legislation, I will chunk every computer I can get my hand on out a window and quit my job. Yes, it will be technically possible to circumvent any kind of logging they put up, but why bother with it? The government will only continue to try to execute a stranglehold on that which it cannot control, thus sucking the life right out of it. It'll be more fun to start the revolution on horeseback with pen and ink anyway.
A gruff Brian answered the phone. "Can I help you?" he said, sounding as though his feelings were already hurt and he was spoiling for a fight.
Stuck in a cube. Dead end job. Talking to AOL users all day. I'm sure a lot of us would be a little gruff and spoiling for a fight too. Doesn't make his attitude ok, but it's certainly understandable.
As an individual who suffers from both chronic depression and insomnia, something like this would be gold to me. Rather than taking drugs that try to force my body and brain to sleep, this would allow me to take better advantage of the hours that I spend awake. Instead of working at 4 in the morning because I can't sleep and piling up errors, I could work at 4 in the morning because I can't sleep and keep everything accurate and precise.
It's MSN...I'm pretty sure that's owned by Microsoft, right? So they want to develop and code for their browser. Big deal. You don't like MS, don't go to their websites, and don't get perturbed if they want you to use their stuff when you do.
Peace Train made the list? Whether it's official policy, censorship or just a direction for good tast, how could Peace Train make the list? Unless it's just some anti-Muslim sentiment being expressed. Maybe they could play the 10,000 Maniacs version instead. No, wait...bad name that too, I suppose.
Oh absolutely, I found myself reaching for the mute button at every commercial break. I suppose the strategy is to allow us to hear the commercials even when heading for the fridge/bathroom/email check.
What? No mention of the shops that routinely sell a Windows machine, fully installed, with the same pirated disc that they've used over and over and over again?
Oh wait, that never happens.
Here Here!
Seems like one of the big reasons that is knocked around for Napster and others of it's ilk is "there isn't any way for me to pay to get the music". Up pops a semi-workable idea for a for charge service and it becomes "no, wait. i really just wanted to get something for free."
I don't care about the cost of CD's. If I like an artist, and they've got something I want to hear I'll buy it. However, if there is just one good cut I don't want to have buy the whole album, it would be nice to be able to easily get the one good piece all alone, and $5 a month to do that doesn't seem bad at all to filter through thousands of songs.
Genomics has got to be the scariest thing that I can imagine happening to our global society. The powers that genetics have, the promise of curing horrible diseases and defect are truly awe inspiring and not inconsiderable, but the awful likelihood of misuse is greater. Our world is just not yet ready or responsible enough to handle such potent knowledge.
I can't tell if the guy is an idiot-savant or just an idiot. His ideas are somewhat interesting, but it would be nice if he could offer some sort of way of making them work. And can anyone explain to me files without names, would that hurt anyone else as badly as it would hurt me? I don't really have a.sig.
I'm not even going to waste my time making a point.

Cocaine is a performance enhancing drug. If it doesn't give you a heart attack.

Holy Crap, I had one of those shirts. I loved that thing. Never did try dragging it through puddles, but I put it through everything else.
Now we know whom to blame. Bastards.

Maybe ABC should be more ashamed for running his story?

Jeez, with all the wonderful reviews that they give MS I thought that ZDNET was owned by them.
